Best example is current Vet. Teams match up based on builds and how owners use their dots.

You can make the case for “tactics” all you want, but at the end of the day it really matter about how your builds shape up and how you use your dots. The tactics for defense have always been meh; how many of you are running a full defensive playbook?

Furthermore it’s easy to say “fix your tactics” if you’re spamming the same plays. I run a full playbook and although it’s mostly man blitz you can clearly see the inconsistencies. I don’t even have to change my playbook anymore, the fire frequency of plays literally changes game to game. It’s more fun and unpredictable and allows me to focus more on my builds, but that’s besides the point. The fact of the matter is that unless you’re spamming a small amount of plays per package, you’re not going to see the consistency you want.

I can only speak for Vet rn: Defensive success is purely determined by team scheme and how good enough players are to make an impact. If the game didn’t revolve around playmakers then why does everyone care about having stars over depth ?

It’s weird how 36 deep team owners always give opinions on things of this nature in the game like they haven’t clearly fielded all stars for a reason.

I know you all like to think your shit doesn’t stink, but even roses smell bad.

Been a great run from QPR to reach a championship game on the back of my understanding the Defense.

I love scheming, but I won't ever execute with this trashfest of an AI.

This will forever burn in my memory for as long as I live:

3-4 Sky Stack 4 = 5 dot long pass tag

So clearly 2nd and short that's set at 50 Pass Short/50 Inside Run would call 3-4 Sky Stack 4. I love that it was called twice just to make sure it was no fluke.

It makes so much sense

Oh and please no sharing of that flow chart diagram thingy that's so simple for everyone that it needed hand-drawn annotations to make more sense of it hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaah

I'll take my leave from running the defense forever in GLB2, but will have fun with the offensive side of the game for now

No shame in that. Was a good rookie season

1 yard is 'short' and not 'very short'?

Is it tagged that in 2wr sets?

2.5/4/6.5 and long = 10.5

It was a blast! Got the GLB bug after so many years and it was great fun pitting wits with all you guys.

But how were the plays tagged in your 2WR playbook?

So it would be second and very short then.

Are you making sure to tag the plays individually in each formations playbooks?

I love how chat always goes back to tagging the playbook when it gets overruled by the Tactics Screen. That's the problem and I have no intention of wrestling with a system that's clearly designed to overrule my calls.

I tag Long Pass, I expect Long Pass not 2nd and short or whatever. It happened the first half of the season with 4-3 Sky blitzes and it's happened with 3-4 stack. Weed out the sky and watch the season burn on stacks.

Ultimately Tactics Screen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> my playcalling.

It's not what I'd consider investing a days worth of effort when all I want as a casual gamer is plug and play.

So I call quits on defense.

This answers none of what I was asking. If you have a % of long pass for 2nd and very short there is a chance it will call that play.

If you have it tagged only as a pass long play in 2TE sets, it doesn't make it so in all sets - so you need to check 2WR playbooks specifically. You have to tag the plays in each set for what you want them to be called for.

If we can eliminate those two things, possibly a bug.

There is 0 in long pass on every single box until 3rd and long. The play is in the 2WR and 3RS sets only. Not in 2TE. Not quite sure why that's relevant seeing as the 2 plays I put up are 2WRs.

After a month of this, I haven't come to learn. This is a gamer's complaint that's gone 4 pages long.

I quit learning after 2 weeks, which is far more than I should have invested.

My calls are overruled by the tactics page. It is what it is.

possibly a bug.

I highly doubt that. It's more likely a casual gamer who went in-over-his-head with the awful Tactics Screen expecting obedience.

It was an example, I was saying you need to check the tag specifically in 2WR.

If it's long pass in 2WR, you need to then check you actually have a play in 2WR that is tagged for short pass - or it will still have a chance of being called when your tactics call for short pass 2WR and no short pass 2WR exists, it goes to '2WR pass' and takes a pass play based upon blue dots, without the distance considered.

This is the likeliest cause and confirms my statement:

Ultimately Tactics Screen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> my playcalling.

And that is the very essence of the problem a casual gamer like me has with the entire thing.
