This is honestly such an interesting conversation. So we have 3 points of view here. Sorry if I misunderstand one of you guys but it looks like we have we have,

Agerm/Unique- I don't care if my friends see my builds because if they need them for an advantage they have already lost. It also helps other players improve.

OrigJoker - Friends can see my builds but they shouldn't use that to give themselves an advantage.

4ChanCitizen - Don't leave your builds open and give opponents an advantage.
Who knew there were this many build philosophies?! Going off what Agerm said I would let someone see my build if they asked, but not if they were in the same league as I was.

I recognize others copying my dots as praise. If any decent human being ask me to share build I would. There are so many parts of this game that are undervalued. Every single question is start of a conversation.

I look at it this way, I have gotten better at making players because people like agerm, rob, atlbruce, myrik, Detroit Leos, raid and plenty of others have shared their knowledge with me. That’s with play calling as well. If someone wants to see a build of mine or what I look to do on offense or defense, I have no problem sharing that info normally.

Wowza. Quite the conversation you guys have going on.

I will throw in my two cents just because I can despite being late to the party.

I have zero issues with people seeing my builds, using my builds, or modifying my builds. I have tried many different build concepts and have gathered a ton of information over the years here. If I can save people time by providing at least a baseline of what can be effective and they in turn are closer to being legit competition (coaching often needs to be figured out as well), then it is good for the game.

There is not enough competition in the game. Hell, I have not legitimately gameplanned for games for a very long time. I modify or create new packages from time to time, but not putting in much effort and still able to compete for ladder trophies.

If opponents having better builds results in more exciting games for me to watch, then that is a good thing IMO. I have helped countless people with player builds, coaching, or anything GLB2 related. I will always be happy to do so, even if an opponent is in the same league. I do try to avoid letting other teams in my league from using my PBs and tactics though even though I will help direct competition figure out how to improve their PB/tactics.

Too many people just give up when getting crushed by people that have been around long enough to have both quality builds and coaching.

Raises hand...

Put me in the group of those who have learned immensely from others (friends) who've allowed me to view their builds. I always open my build to team coaching staff to keep us on the same page, and then I open to friends by request.

I also agree with lizard and leos about helping improve the quality of the game through a more open approach... so maybe we should all start to open our builds to everyone for the good of the game?

"allowed me to view their builds"
"others have shared their knowledge with me"
"If any decent human being ask me to share build I would"

This Is different from sneaking and seeing builds. I will share the little bit I know with almost anyone that asks but it's my decision. If I found out someone was then sharing my builds with my opponents I would be pissed. If they ask that's an entirely different story.

I don't know 1/4 as mush about this game as a lot of these guys and I do learn a lot from being on different teams and seeing others builds. I just don't share information that wasn't mine to begin with.

We all have our beliefs and we don't need to agree. I didn't expect this to turn into a 4 page debate over it.

Don't include me in this shit... I just wanted to say GG to one of the teams' defense. That's it. Everything else snowballed from misunderstandings and bad blood.

You should take credit - claim it was a master plan on your part to leverage the distraction to your teams advantage...a monty burns "Excellent" as a punctuation point goes a long way.

I get what you are saying. I would not want legit competition necessarily to know every aspect or my player builds. This could provide benchmarks to hit for their team builds if they knew precisely how much blocking skills I had across the board. Physicals can be seen with combine stats on players for the most part. Awareness and technique skills remain hidden to others when builds are not open.

On the other hand, most quality teams have final builds and caps already in place upon creation as owners/coaches have already planned all projected end builds for the team. The ability to adapt to an opposing build could still be somewhat limited depending on how the player was created and current caps already in place. Additionally, changing that players build could lead to deficiencies elsewhere.

I would not have a problem with other people sharing my builds without permission unless it was to give an opponent an advantage during the current run. If they want to incorporate similar builds or my builds in future runs though, all power to them.
