I want to change this dynamic. With the available Superstar(S*) I have, I want to create a Super Safety(S*S), a Strong Safety with the focus on doing three major things well. Deliver a hit, Cover the 1v1, and Force Fumbles. I feel like this would be an effective combination as the more monstrous hits a player receives, the quicker his "Heart" stat goes down and the less likely he would be able to catch a pass near the SS or away from him. If he catches it his heart goes down, if he doesn't his heart goes down, if he fumbles it his heart goes down. A three pronged attack to SHUTDOWN a player in his entirety.
I'd personally give up on the heavy FF part of your build, even with S* you won't have enough SP to stop S* receiving TE's AND not miss tackles vs. S* power backs. Considering that S* TE's spent all their skill points on receiving and S* backs spend all their SP on running and you have to spread your skills to stop both, it's tough to be great at everything.
The last team I was on benched my high power tech SS for a FF SS and against good teams he gave up more big plays than he created.
The easy league games with 60+ - 0 scores led to 2+ FF a game which inflated his overall FF stats but in games against actual good teams against S* backs he was useless and had way too many missed tackles.
