GG Cunning Stunts! Your defense reacted well to the direction of the run, and they navigated my blockers really well. Pretty impressive! Looking forward to our next encounter, hopefully in the playoffs.

Thanks to Rob we've been pumping run defense for about 2 seasons now haha. We're finally starting to find a little consistency containing the run.

It just depends on the current meta honestly.
At the start of GLB, there was a dominance of running teams such at QC / Salty Runback / Minnesota Stunners. In reaction, many teams built stout run defenses to stop these top teams. A few seasons later, you saw teams like Air Raid / AA / Rhode Island exploit these run focused defenses and rise to the top of their respective ladders. Again, the tide shifted when teams started building teams to stop the pass. At this point in the game you now have agents that are getting smart enough to build well balanced defenses that have the correct personnel to AT LEAST slow down either one.
One of the things I love about Hall of Fame - they are a great running team, but pass the ball well enough that you don't dare try to sell out on the run (Ok, who am I kidding - you still have to sell out to stop Mr. Sanders) without fear of getting burned through the air. That's why we all love this cat & mouse game of football.

But that's thing. When I created my team a few seasons ago, each player was set up to be either extreme against the pass or the run. Depending on if I played a pure running team or pure passing team, I would sub in the correct personal. Now most teams are balanced (which is good for the game) so each player has to be decent vs the run and pass. Well, not all of my players were built extreme but about half were. I have tweaked them since.
GG Death Valley Devils, unlike last season, I was really able to make you pay for going Cat Blitz 2 Roll. It's a boom or bust play, in that against certain offensive plays it's like an auto-TFL, against others it contains, but then others it's a home run.

Yeah, the previous version of HAHA was like that. I had a variety of specialists, that I would sub in and out depending. Made gameplanning much more of a pain when virtually everyone on the D was a specialist.

God no thanks... I couldn't imagine trying to set those depth charts. Especially when you switch your plays within certain sets... Going from a 3-3-5 man base to a 3-3-5 USM/OWM Blitz is a completely different personnel grouping.

Yup. Took far too long. I had over a dozen defensive depth charts and playbooks saved and then I'd work from there tweaking. Every now and then I'd have to create everything from scratch.
Royal pain to do, but when everything aligned it felt great.
Let me remember what I had: 1 Pure run stuffing CB 2 Balanced run/pass CBs 3 Pure Coverage CBs (1 with a slightly different build) 1 Pure Pass Rush LB 1 Balanced Pass rush/Run stuff LB 1 Roamer run stuff LB 1 Block shedding LB 1 Balanced run/under zone LB (for Lurk's and Robber's) 1 Pure coverage LB 1 Pure run SS 1 Pure run FS 1 Pure coverage FS 1 Pure Coverage SS 2 Balanced run/pass DE's 1 Pure run DE 1 Pure pass rush DE 2 Pure run DT's 1 Balanced DT 1 Pure pass rush DT
Now I'm just like screw that. Far less variety and I'm on default. My Sophomore team has only 1 SS and 1 FS, the d-line are cookie cutters and interchangeable. Only 2 different kind's of corners and linebackers. So much easier.
