Eugene easily wins the stats and the turnover battle but has to withstand a Q4 charge by Saskatoon to hold on for the win.

Missing 3 FGs (we have no kicker!) didn't help.

Oh and Boy WR Shifty dominates with big catches and Prime Time firings.

The Matchup of the Year: Phoenix vs. Eugene

The two best teams in the Senior League, the Eugene Elderly and the Phoenix Retirees, clash this week in a battle of the Titans. The Retirees hold the better record at an astounding 8-0, while Eugene has a couple close losses to their name. The game will come down to individual performances on both sides of the ball. Whichever team can make big plays and keep the other team in check will be the one that wins. That said, let's break it down on both sides of the ball.

Phoenix Offense vs. Elderly Defense

The Phoenix Offense is an absolute juggernaught, rolling over teams right and left. They are averaging just over 47 points per game in their last 5 games. Eugene, on the other hand, brings the league's best defense into the matchup. The key to the Retiree's success will be in the run game. Although they lead the league in pancakes and have two strong backs in Robert Riddick and Meat Head, the Elderly have allowed just 446 rush yards all season. The Elderly also bring a capable pass rush, leading the league with 45 sacks to go along with their #2 defense in passing yardage. Although S* QB and lead MVP candidate Candice Swanpoel is an elite QB, she will have her work cut out for her against the nasty d-line of the Elderly.

Elderly Offense vs. Retiree Defense

The Elderly Offense is only the 4th best as offenses in the senior league go, with their dual headed QB system producing on the 6th best amount of points in the league. This middling performance will be put to the test against the #1 scoring defense of the Retirees, who have yet to give up 20 points in a game and have held 5 teams to under 10. Eugene will have to rely on the legs of Death Tank, their only offensive superstar, to move the ball against the Retiree defense. If they can control the line of scrimmage, they can run the ball and burn clock to keep the powerful Phoenix offense on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the Retirees will look to stifle the outside run and bring pressure on either QB.

Prediction:

Eugene's defense will make a stand, harrying Swanepoel all day on the way to a poor output from the Phoenix Offense. The Eugene Offense will struggle, though, and only be able to score on explosive plays in the ground game. Phoenix will make just enough plays to sustain drives and control the momentum of the game, stealing it 24-14

Seems quiet on the Senior Front; but two big matchup to end the regular season:

Phoenix vs Leeds: Two teams with playoff berths clinched battling for Pride. Phoenix tries to become only the second team in Senior League history to go through a regular season undefeated. Leeds brings the 4th ranked offense and 3rd defense against the #1 overall Retirees. The Accountants have been on a tear after a middling start to the season. Phoenix won the last meeting 20-14, tied for their closest game of the season.

Washington vs. Eugene: The final playoff spot is up for grabs as the Wrinkles battle the Elderly. Eugene's monstrous pass rush (80 sacks, league lead) vs Washington's all timer superstar HB Ben Woody (over last 4 games: 784.5 yds, 13 TDs). Eugene looked like an early favorite but faltered against weaker opposition. Washington has come out of nowhere on the back of a strong run game. Neither team's strengths match up, so it should be an interesting game to say the least. Eugene won the last one 13-3

Eugene has lost a ton of good players as agents have retired them. It's going to be awhile before that gets fixed.

I noticed that. I've been trying to figure out why players get suddenly cut from Senior League teams mid year, and I think it happens the moment an agent goes inactive. Some players are on 3-5 different teams a season!

I like that idea, though it may eventually mean that there are a ridiculous number of Legend dots one day.

Looks like Phoenix will go undefeated this season. Can't see Eugene winning unless Death Tank's Chem has hit an inflection point.
