Looks like this CB gets pressure to me. He only has 57 speed right now, but he is gonna max out at 93 speed. When he does, he will get to the QB in a split second. If he doesn't get the sack, he will get pressure.

Does the CB have any intimidation? Higher intim helps with pressure on the QB (so I'm guessing that will up the chance of a hurry).

Oh and you can do very similar CB blitzs with man coverage

Good game. My defense saved me in that one. My offense has been falling flat lately.

No...but good point.

To further the point of zone in passing schemes, I am not sure if they are still pure zone but I ran the exact same passing attack against this team.

Obviously you can see my defense hurt, but offensively ate it alive. Again, not sure if DC is still strictly zone, but I know at one point they were.

To be fair to your offense, I did have 10 players on the field specifically designed to stop the run... and I didn't run them out of plays like I did against Ground Assault lol

Totally forgot about Intim when making my blitzing CB. Gonna max it out but it only caps at 25. Next team, I'll make a fast, intim, blitzing CB.

What's interesting to me on this play is the route adjustment of WR3. Corner Threat is a sideline cut, but WR3 (Belgarion) actually turns inside to make the play.

GE, your CB may get faster to the QB put he leaves the WR3 open and as you can see Belgarion hits the 10yard/ First Down mark at tick 35. Yes your CB is close, but Belgarion is wide open at this point and it's only because he turns in is the FS even close to make the tackle.

Another thing is this is a First Quarter play. Even if you get the sack, my QB will get rattled at some point and hold the HB in, which went out on a pass. All my HB has to do is pickup your blitzing CB for 2 ticks and my QB will have enough time to release the ball.

And like Gal said, my QBs and WRs will also get faster.

In Vet I am seeing more QB sacks, but almost all of them are coverage sacks and not fast LBs getting the sack at tick 32.

So I commend you for the path you're on, but there will be plenty of "AGGGG" moments.

There's a 4-3 CB Blitz Zone that blitzes CBs from both sides, so you can't always count on your HB to pick em up. It's a fun experiment - but I wouldn't want to run it lol.

Just did adjustments on my caps...blitzing CBs will end build with 97 speed.

Good thing about the 3-3-5 nickel zone blitz that I run is the CB will never get picked up unless the HB stays in to block.

I used a blitzing CB for a while, but the route they take to the QB is so much farther than a LB that even if they have 100 speed they will pretty much never get to the QB in time.

My LB with 80+ speed and 60+ quickness already finds it virtually impossible to get sacks against most QBs.

Blitzing CBs need 5 things to get to the QB.

1) a play that allows him to blitz untouched to the QB
2) his speed
3) the route he takes (pass rush style)
4) how his teammates (LB and DE) pick up the O-Line
5) opposite DE needs to "contain" the QB

On this play:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/124904/1547660

1) CB will always get to the QB untouched unless the HB blocks

2) he has 57 speed but will get much faster

3) pass rush style HAS to be set to power. That way he will take a direct approach to the QB and not do the "loop around"

4) in order for power pass rush style to work, the O-Line in front of him needs to be picked up by his teammates. Watch the RDE and ROLB. Both of their pass rush style is also set to power so they run straight into the blockers and "eat up" the blocks. The RDE takes the tackle and the LOLB takes the guard who moved over. This allows the CB to run into the back field free.

5) The LDE needs to have evasive pass rush so that the QB cannot scramble to the right. The LDE will "contain" the QB in the pocket.

Yea I get all that. The thing is, for an OLB to get to the QB they need all those same things as well (pass rush style doesn't have to always be power, but can never be evasive) and they just have a shorter route to the QB.

Eventually the OL that isn't blocking anyone will have enough footwork and quickness to cut off the CB as well.

As I said before, CB blitzes are a run defense tool more than a pass defense tool. You're sacrificing one of the players on a defense that's capable of very high coverage skill caps to be an inferior pass rusher. You're better off with 4 gold spin cyclist defensive linemen and just not bothering to blitz.
