To be fair, if it were ever changed so that the QB was able to throttle a pass intelligently, passing would be ridiculously over-powered without some sort of counter-balancing change to help defenders. Air Raid's been pretty lethal this season as it is, and for every one of those passes I complain about, there's another where Cleveland snaps a pass into a tight window like a boss. So USC isn't wrong about power being useful, I'm just pointing out that it's all power, all the time. There's no smart throttling on the pass, the QB just throws it with whatever power he has at whatever route is being targeted.

This pass was a thing of beauty from my soph. team's ladder game today - http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/117291/709153
35 pass power ftw?

That's the magic number I guess.

Maybe Pass Awareness helps the QB know when to fire it in there or lob it up?

Seeing as how we've got 90 Pass Awareness on Cleveland, I'm gonna guess no.

It's pretty lame to see all of the top plays are running plays. I honestly can't remember when a passing play was on the top plays list. This is the reason why. Why would anyone bother throwing the ball when long running plays happen so frequently? A fix is definitely needed to balance this out.
I'll throw in a replay for the hell of it, the fact that this isn't a touchdown shows how lackluster the deep ball really is. If a receiver has six yards of separation from the corner, it damn well better be a touchdown.

CiS is worthless. The QB throwing it on the money is more important, and first step is better for getting a good jumpstart when you have to stop to catch, which is most of the time.

This is mostly just a function of how multiple broken tackles improves the "top play" value - you're more likely to see a lot of broken tackles on a running play.
