Played 3. It was very, very good. One of the best stories in gaming. Not particularly a great game compared to those that came after it, but definitely epic for it's time.

Xav, did you ever dual wield Chaos Blade and Excalibur? 40/21 damage, and perma haste, regen, holy absorb/boost, and stone on hit chance.

With the perma haste, I'd take the protagonist and use Yell a half dozen times at the start of the fight. You get turns so fast, that unless you get one shot, the perma regen will heal you full before anything else gets a move. Regen is a holy skill too, so it gets the boost from the holy bonus on Excalibur.

You can totally solo the end sequence with that build.

It's been so very long since I played, and I beat the entire game in one night so it wasn't all that memorable.

If you beat Tactics in one night, that's one hell of a marathon.

Something like 15 hours or so. Once I figured out that monks were stupidly strong, and that ninja would let them hit twice, the fights went really fast, and I liked the story, so I wanted to see that through to the end as quickly as possible.

I kinda do that a lot with entertainment. I do 15-20 hour Netflix marathons fairly often. I watched all of Game of Cards season 2 in a single binge. It took me 6 binges to get through all 5 seasons of Breaking Bad.

I even do that here. I'll take a day and watch 20-30 replays, get scrims run, tweak, more scrims, tweak, etc., and then I won't touch anything for the next several games until something interesting comes up (ie. Darkside's game with Tampa) that leads to another binge.

fair enough then, surprised you feel that way about ff3 for its time vs later games…later games were all about graphics and just didn't touch the depth of gameplay that ff3 had, imo of course (well, and IGN.com's http://www.ign.com/top/rpgs)

Minimares too low, rest of the league too high.

And a jrpg discussion? We argue about this shit all the time. This could turn into a 1000 page thread if the rest of my team started to post here.

Don't get me wrong, I thought 3's story was by far the best of the series. I thought 7 was more interesting from a game mechanics standpoint.

Honestly though, haven't played a final fantasy game all the way through since X.
