lol how can you say The Vols arent the true UT? They got more football history than Texas
Hate to break it to you, but you're wrong. The Horns started playing football in 1893. The Vols first game was in 1891. BTW, the Horns won their first game, in fact they won their first 10 games. The Vols...not so lucky, they lost 8 of their first 10 games.
Texas has 820 victories all-time, Tennessee 771.
Head to head wins: Texas 2, Tennessee 1.
Texas has been to 48 bowl games, Tennessee 48. Texas is 25-21-2 in bowl games, Tennessee is 26-22.
All-Americans: Texas 119, Tennessee 86.
College Football Hall of Fame: Texas 16, Tennessee 22.
Heisman Trophy winners: Texas 2 (VY should have won it in 04-05, making it 3), Tennessee 0.
Conference championships: Texas 29, Tennessee 16.
National Championships: Texas 4, Tennessee 4 (2 of the claimed 6 by Tennessee are not recognized by the NCAA).
you cant include conference championships...because honestly Tennessee would have won a lot more in the weak Big 12. but other than that it looks pretty even to me
and what website did you use...your numbers are way different than the ones i got
I used this website:
http://www.kiko13.com/cflrankings/allrecords.htm?bwThat is exactly the point I was trying to prove. Neither team has more history than the other. Both are very successful programs and that is what makes a matchup between the two so attractive.
I used each teams website for my info. The win total differences comes from forfeits. Some teams convert losses to a school that later had to forfeit wins, into wins for themselves. Not everyone does this or recognizes it as valid. For instance, Texas had losses against Tecas Tech and Colorado in the early 1990's. Those schools later had to forfeit those wins for rules violations, thus Texas converted those losses into wins.
As for comparing the two conferences, I am not gonna get into that argument.
