Well, since my D is ranked #1 I'm going to say that mine is the best. Somebody has to score on me to prove me wrong. Black Sea put 23 on me but 14 of that was off special teams.........IMO rawss is the single best special teams coach in the game


J/K about being #1 btw..................Im just proud that its my D, noone helped me with it, I didnt borrow plays..........just a lot of head scratching and replay watching!

Just a quick glance at the box score stats of you verses some other teams and I'd say that while you do have a fantastic defence (probably the best I've seen in a few ages for a rookie team), your offence is piss poor and worth less then dirt. That combined with your SoS is likely why you are not ranked as high as you should be. Fix up your offence and you will probably jump into the top 5 and could even earn a championship trophy because of your stellar defence. But as you are now, I'd be impressed if you made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I was on vacation in Texas for that game...I hope we get a chance to rematch in the playoffs

not that I would have made much of a difference, but I think we could have made it a LITTLE closer.

You know, it feels good to see such lively chatter and commentaries in this thread. I love the light hearted smack talks and discussions of who is best and such. We really need more of this happening throughout the season really.

I would have to agree with you Kenshinzen. BSS has 9th pass/17th run defence. You have 7th pass/6th run defence. So yes you do have a better defence. Of course BSS probably has a better special teams then you in order to have an overall less points given up rating

Just looking at box score I'd say you are correct. But when looking closer, you have a 4-3 defence with a stacked situational defence geared towards the run protection using big build DT/DE and speedy LB's. Not a defensive setup that scales into the upper elite leagues and such but great for the leagues under level 30. The Lemars however are very impressively with a 3-4 defence still stuffing the run which is a very impressive feat actually while still defending the pass. They are very strategically timing the blitzes and the coverage drop backs. There defence looks like it is geared up for handling the upper level leagues and world leagues with success. Normally I would say that they don't stand a chance in the rookie/sophmore leagues but clearly they are so that is why I would give them huge props on there defence and expect great things from it.

3-4 can stop the run at the lower levels just fine if you know what youre doing. I was DC of this team in season 18

Won our league and had the #1 ranked defense with a 3-4. Now that they are in the upper leagues, people are running on them with a lot more success. You cant stop really good upper level running teams with 3 in the box.

Not sure if this is a support or a refute but at the lower levels, there is not enough speed/power/agility in the running games for it to really matter much if you have 1 DT and 2 MLB or 2 DT and 1 MLB for up the middle runs. For the edge runs it doesn't matter either way since it usually comes down to the CB and Safeties to stop those. So it is only a difference on the "off-tackle" runs.where I could easily see it being a little more useful on the lower levels to have a OLB and ILB assisting the DE on the off-tackle runs. With a DE, DT, and OLB it is really just the OLB and DE protecting the off tackle and the DT is just holding up a blocker that *could* be used to block the ILB in the other scenario if the speed/agility/vision is good enough to do that.

So in essence I don't really see a diff in the 3-4 vs 4-3 at the lower levels and feel that both are advantageous depending on the situation and personnel.

I do feel that in the upper level leagues though that most teams have a difficult time running in general and the passing game is much more effective so having a 3-4 setup tends to help against the passing game but yes the inside running games tend to tear you up if there is a "good" run team and you are pretty much screwed then. But most teams are not good at running inside really

Dark Side still working on DAI, sigh... hope to see a bit more of improvement today.

I would much rather make a team beat me through the air than on the ground.


I've ran both 3-4's and 4-3's and the most frustrating games by far were the ones where the opponent just ran it down my 3-4's throat play after play after play. I have yet to face a team who can put together consistent 10+ play drives by throwing every down.

I'm actually thinking about that myself. This is the power ratings of the top 5

1 Dotball Mean Machine (3.734)
2 Lima Vampires (2.838)
3 Uganda Babybacks (1.917)
4 Black Sea Sinistral (1.228)
5 Greater Builds Elite (1.026)

Which basically means that Dotball would beat Lima 56.8% (3.734 / (3.734 + 2.838)) of the time. And if Lima played Uganda, Lima would win only 59.7% of the time.
