Yep, idk either. I was expecting a close game, but not that.

This was in mid S11 which is more understandable http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=783578 but your example is way more disturbing. They had also got beat bad by the Hounds near the end of last season.

Having gone through a similar process recently, I may have a little insight:

1) They are probably playing with very well rounded builds for this first time this season.
2) Level 64 gear across the board makes a very substantial difference.


I think these two things more than anything else are the main reason for the jump...I know I saw this happen with us a season or two ago. We used to get really dominated by the top teams, but very suddenly we were on about the same level.

Valhalla has a great roster, and I noted as much in season 9 after we met in SAPL...I think I said something like "in a few seasons, you guys will be the team to beat, I have no doubt about that."


So basically their success should largely be attributed to me, that's the take-away point here



Great team, well coached, most complete game in GLB.

Valhalla Offense is sick and the D is really damn good...i got bored watching the game live

I can throw out some excuses for those games... Against Hali one we didn't game plan and had our CBs playing 1v1 coverage on aggressive with no safeties, and the hounds game I had a nice offense ready but hit update too late on the AI and we used a bad game plan. But really, I've been pretty surprised at how much we've improved myself.

There are a lot of causes...
-longish focus cap builds rounding out with SAs etc.
-me figuring out and switching up a number of builds
-switch to mostly zone
-a lot of AEQ switches (we are over 100 mil from affording all level 64 upgrades)
-the sim changes were good to us
-we took full advantage of the VA resets and totally switch up some VA builds

Mostly though, people don't realize how big a difference one season of growth makes. Season 1 players retiring and season 2 players getting old while we round out builds and VAs and get lvl 64 EQ... I don't think it's tough to imagine that being worth 60 points of improvement against certain teams.
