I came very close to considering running the SIS against him every play in our scrimmage Tried opening up the passing game a little more than normal instead. Held them to 1.3 yds/carry on defense so I was pretty happy with the result.

To be fair though, they too were experimenting with the passing though they kinda had to once they were down 24-7 at halftime

To me it's more about doing the fun things like game-planning. Last season there were only two teams that I didn't have to watch game film for (Apatity Awesome and The Brotherhood). All the others were competitive enough that the real strategies behind GLB came out. Player to player matchups, defensive trends, offensive trends, the whole nine yards. Our one regular season loss sucked, but I don't begrudge it. We sold out for a certain formation and the other team didn't run it that much. Dem's da breaks.

I might be crazy, but this game is more fun that way. The chance to win is more important than the winning itself. I don't mind going 0-16 if we had a chance to win all those games and just came up short. With the league as it is now, we have no chance against several teams and that number will most likely only increase as other teams do more no-cap recruiting. What's the point, twiddle my thumbs for 50 days and wait? I'd rather be gameplanning.

Meh. Maybe I'm just weird.

nope, not weird. I like the way you think Willie and as you can see, our team is the same (added only two more players in our defense). We're a group of friends and will stay together for a long time. We'll survive this season and the next will compete!

Hopefully we can get more team owners on board with this. I totally agree with everything Willie's saying.

Some of us on the Whores have replaced our players with some of our mid level players. I don't think there are many more to come, if any to be honest. We won't be bringing in our top tier players and we don't intend to make our team turn into a bunch of level 40's either.

@ Air - Don't be bitter, you were still the first runner-up!!

Fear the Whores!!!

I really think the best we're going to do is to just come to a general understanding - but it's pointless to try to get every single team in the league to sign onto something like this.

For instance - if a team needs to fill a sudden hole in the roster, and someone who already has a guy on the roster has another level 30 player just sitting there. IMO they should be allowed to sign the dude without being considered some kind of traitor to the league.

I know my team isn't going to go out & bring in some level 40 players to play QB or HB or anything like that. But this is the system we're all dealing with equally, and if an owner wants to "cheese the game" by bringing level 40 players into this league, then that's unfortunately a legit tactic. I wouldn't enjoy playing against them - or watching them cruise to a league title in season 9 against the rest of us who are playing "in the spirit" of the game. But to argue that teams should follow some sort of undefinied sense of fairness instead of building their roster according to the actual rules set in place is just a recipe for bitterness & disappointment. Just gotta roll with it IMO.

A team can talk a bunch of trash "oh look how my level 45 WR burned the shit out of your level 24 CB, we're great & you suck." But in the long run, when those of us who started teams in season 7 or 8 and still have a roster full of guys who are at the height of their careers... by that point we'll hopefully have left that team that relied too heavily on high level players to win the season 9 EEA6 title - instead of continuing to develop their level 20 players through heavy playing time - way in the dust. (plus if you lose to a team like that this season, you already have a built in whiny excuse ready to go).

I wasn't saying this at all. I apologize if I implied it. I was just expressing what makes GLB more fun for me. Owners can do whatever they want with their teams, they pay for them.

The promotion from a capped to an uncapped league has always been an issue in GLB. It forces you to do one of two things: 1) rebuild your entire roster or 2) bend over and take it for a season or two. This year is a bit different because of the high numbers of CPU teams in EE above the BBB level, so a lot more teams got promoted. I think that's the only reason there's been talk about a shuffle in EE A. There are so many promoted teams with the same level players that it makes more sense to put the teams that are left over from A last season in a league together and all the new guys in a league together. But, I digress. Shuffling is a different thread.

I don't think I would begrudge any team that built up in anticipation for next season. Sure if you field a roster full of 40's for season 9 you are going to vastly outlevel everyone here but come season 10 you won't have chemistry issues and will be in much better shape to compete. This is why I am a huge proponent of level caps for the first couple years of a teams existence.

I have a team in Canada BBB that Kang and I are using to slowbuild (got put in a level 13 capped league), and I was seriously tempted to request a 24 capped league and just switch rosters. Play a season there, then for season 10 switch rosters back, just so we can compete in every season we play. But, we expected to get promoted and get thumped, so I'm not complaining. It's just this mysterious shuffle has gotten me all crazy that I can game plan for a whole season again.

Whats up is you filling your roster with level 40's throwing the league balance out of whack knowingly but hey like i said before in the other forum you gotta do what YOU gotta do to win right? Who cares about equal level matchups and the spirit of the game.........

When i saw the league was uncapped i went out and signed some higher lvl players since i figured everyone was going to do the same to be able to compete. Had i known everyone was going to keep their players i would have done the same. Now it appears that nooone has and will be keeping all their current players. This is your own decision to do so but AGAIN like last sesaon please dont bitch and whine if you choose not to bring in some higher lvl players!!! Had BORT put everyone in a league with say a lvl 24 cap this would not have happened......

Well, if you see Bort's post in the general A forum, this may happen soon!

Yeah, but he did this waaay too late. I was debating which way to go with my team. Luckily I had not made up my mind yet, and had only signed 1 higher level player (my DE) which I can easily drop. The only reason I hadn't started signing more higher level players is because it didn't look like others in the league were. As stated before, equal competition is the goal. Valenski thought in order to get equal competition he was going to have to sign higher level players. Again, blame Bort for his brilliantly run game.

Since the reshuffle is probably going to happen now, I am going to sign all players level 24 and below (to fill needs of players that left). If Bort comes out and says the cap will be 28, we may up it to that.
