These power rankings are hiliarious. If two teams are unbeaten, how can one team be ranked higher than the other? What makes this comical is that the GM of one unbeaten team Dungeoneers started these power rankings.
Hey Reffi, I understand your with your team all the way. However, based on
your last performance, your team has many flaws. Its pretty sad when 7Gms almost lose to a team with a 9-2 record.
Wouldn't you agree?
your a moron!
Your calculations are not correct. Heres why, the Pirranhas have different players on their roster now as many of other teams. Im glad to see you have simple math skills. Unless everyone played today, there is no way you can actually prove that those calculations are accurate at all.
Seriously. If the 11th game of the season is being played tomorrow, how would someone have a 9-2 record? I am thinking you have difficulties with Math. If you are basing this on our 'last performance' we were playing a team with a 7-2 record. A team I might say was excellently coached and whose voice on these boards has been gracious and humorous and is noted as one of the 'teams to beat' as the season progresses into the playoffs as they are doing quite well.
Power Rankings are based (in this case) in a publicly available formula that takes the scores from the preceding games. The formula Reffi is using is the one that was being used in another Conference on these boards who was posting power rankings every week while ours had none.
You can see the formula at http://www.justlacrosse.com/omffl/powerrating.htm.
I'll post it up though, as I think some of these folks who aren't from the St. Petersburg Piranhas might actually understand the math while you will just have to be contented in viewing something complicated and confusing.
(avg score x 6) + [(high score + low score) x 2] +[ (winning % x 200) x 2]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
10
To try to help you understand this.. Everything above the dashed line is calculated and then you take the results and divide them by 10. I know that Math is not your strong point (see above) but hopefully you can muddle through it.
This creates a 'Power Ranking' number.
It is, purely by the math, that the Dungeoneers are on the 'top' of the Power Rankings and your team, is not. It has nothing to do with Reffi trying to pimp his team and at the same time insult your team.
I'm not sure what planet you come from when a 17 point win is 'almost losing' to another team. But, since this is now the criteria, let us loot at your schedule.
Your first game you almost lost to a 5-5 team.
Your 5th game you almost lost to a 7-3 team.
Your 6th Game, you almost lost to a 7-3 team.
Etc.
You've allowed 54 points, While we have allowed 13. Clearly you are superior (...at giving up points to 'inferior' teams).
Lastly, we have 7 GM's because we are able to form more lasting friendships and enjoy each others company better and have established trust and camaraderie over the years so found ourselves able to manage one person owning the team, one person playing the role of a GM, An Offensive Coordinator, a Defensive Coordinator and a Special Teams coordinator. On top of this, we have other players who were curious to see the way the system works, and we were not so paranoid and inspired by Bellicheat so allowed other people GM powers so they could see the systems, manage our message boards, etc.
All in all, it appears the Power Rankings, again based purely on math, seem to have a done a great job measuring the quality of the teams in our two conferences.
While you have 'almost lost' to teams with a combined record of 19-11 (63% combined winning percentage for your opponents in your 'almost lost' games) our two games with scores you have equated to 'Almost Losing' were against the Second Best team in our conference and a very strong team whose records are 16-4 (An 80% winning percentage).
Add to this, we did this without bringing 'pro' team players over partially through the season, and instead have been playing with our 'backups' starting some games so our friends can get playing time and experience and doing our best to make sure the other people in our conference are enjoying the game as much as we are by being amiable and friendly on the boards.
Clearly, we're just trying to diminish your accomplishments and you are vastly superior in every way. I am sure we are sorry for doubting this, and attempting to use some neutral form of statistical comparison to generate the power rankings.
I am sure you are welcome to generate your own formula and present an alternative and 'more accurate' measure of the team rankings.

PS - Part of this post is an intentional 'inside joke' to our Dungeoneers.
Long and well put!
Do your own damn rankings! Christ stop bitching about Power Rankings, they are just RANKINGS, it doesn't mean because we are #1 we will roll you in playoffs.Hey Reffi, your calculations are incorrect and heres why. First off, your calculations are based off of previous games when different players were on different teams. Im glad you have aquired basic math skills. However, unless you
started your calculations today, your power rankings will always be incorrect.
Can you back that up? You cant tell me those numbers are the same regardless of our team acquirring newer players.
Your calculations remind me of cbs sportsline fantasy player draft analysis. Every year there calculations are wrong.
