I hear you officer. It's truly hard for people to understand how great the support crew is on the Maulers when they see the flash of the big plays that are made. Dustin, DX and Stan are all great, great players who have great agents behind them. Besides Jabes', no one even knows that our TEs or my FB even exist on the team. They have no flashy yards, no big numbers, The opponents D don't even remember what hit them, they just come to when they have to rush out for the extra point.
All you hear about Manitoba's D is the DEs. Nothing about the excellent core of LBs and CBs and DBs waiting behind them. About our fine corp of DTs pounding the snot out of the opponents O-line.
Then again, this story isn't a Mauler's story. I just used our names to make it more concrete. We have a great league and this story could be told on at least half of the teams listed under CA5.
My point is that these players who are and will remain nameless make the great teams great, but without them those teams are good but one dimensional. These players allow their GMs to have the flexibility to adjust their game plans. These players realize that pancakes don't define the responsibility of a OT, that CBs aren't defined solely by INTs and PDs, and that a TE isn't limited to Reception yards and Pancakes.
If I have time between my duties, I will try to compile a list of players- but if I am unable to do so, take this as a bow to all those players who have no stats to define them, have no people to sing their praise, and who wont see their name on these lists and yet they are the workers upon whose backs the stat-giants stand.
Thank you for making it all work.
