There needs to be some kind of process for becoming an owner. Either make someone have to be a player agent for at least 3 full seasons (by that point the player's flex slows down and there's less to do with the player) or make someone be a GM for at least 2 seasons. Once those prerequisites are met people can buy a team. Sure there are plenty of guys that join up, sign up to buy a team and do great. There are probably a lot more that go for half a season, see its not like Madden franchise mode, and lose interest or give up because it's not as easy as they expected.

I believe its mostly because this game is confusing as all hell. There is no damn firm rule book. Teams, players, rules, builds etc are changing constantly. Its like driving at night with the headlights off, you might be fine, or crash and burn. The simple education of what to expect would eliminate a lot of cpu bs.

Cpu teams go to the bottom rung now. Getting a team whether it's in a new league or an old league means starting at the bottom. That's what the mass promotion and demotions are about. I agree stadiums need reset and cash too,but even a 12 year old should have the privilege of succeeding or failing in this game. Cash alone doesn't make a good owner. Running a team takes a lot of time. is it really that surprising people tire of that responsibility. My guess is there is only about a 10 to 15% turnover a season That's really not a lot. Add in demotions of weak teams and it seems a lot worse than it is. Our league has what 2 cpu teams out of 32 and 2 more that are opting for demotion That's not that bad. But when you add in the promotion and demotion you end up with maybe 10 teams leaving and thats a lot. Being in a pro league there is only one way to go. So yes in 7 seasons that might seem like a bad thing but it really isn't. It's just the normal turn over.

I completely agree and that's how it should be. ...but when the American economy is going down the shitter to lack of regulation, there is no for sure business model for people to say, "Hey, that's a good way to do business."

My Citi credit card just tried to fuck me in the ass without really notifying me, by changing my contract and only sending a dinky 3 inch card, in fine print, with the description of changes in the mail.

It's a little surprising, but the business model is changing away from 'Respecting your customers' for awhile. NFL teams are out-pricing the casual fan. It's cheaper to take a road trip to Minnesota to see the Bears play than it is to see them play in Chicago (including gas, tolls, parking, everything). Our culture right now is all about "Pulling a fast one" on people when it comes to business, which is surprising, when you see the same people in real life are the opposite in face to face social interaction. I've got friends that are nice, honest, I've got your back people in real life, but as soon as something impersonal comes along it's cutthroat all the way.

A very interesting exchange hidden in a thread about players rights. Reading between the lines will not make some people happy. The implication is that driving away a large number of customers may be a desired result.

If I told you it was a matter of some internal debate, would you believe me?

I would but that debate either has taken too long to get started or has gone on for too long.

Jrry, I know you're smart enough to realize how much work is yet to be done on GLB, so it's unfair to both expect things to get done over night, or to pay particular emphasis to the day-to-day goings on now.

Vanilla Thunder, this has been a HUGE issue since season 2. I don't think it's asking too much for expecting some change since season 2.

Right, I get that, but my point was that, with so much that needs fixing, why is this hugely important to people now?

This has always been very important and this probably needs as much fixing as anything else, you also have to remember that players fund the game...that's why I'd say this should be at the top of the list.

Yes and No, depends on what the long-term plan is imo.

Yes and no to what?

To whether or not it (and by extention) players are important (now, not overall obviously).

So you think GLB will miss the $4 that I stop paying them if I sell my team more than the $200 I stop paying them if I stop boosting.(those are per season)

No, I'm saying that it's entirely possible that with a pool of 500 players, Bort could get more done then with a group of 50,000 players. The money issue is obvious, but that's why I'm speaking long-term.

great repost yendorri.

I don't think he's gnona get 50,000 players to be honest. IMO he should milk this while it lasts.

He already has and continues to do so with each season that passes.

Then why are you still here, playing? If it's so bad, and you feel so slighted? What is it that draws you to continue to play, and post?

Seriously. I think that despite DE issues and my running game dying (which I blame more on my early season lack of tackles who didn't suck) this season has been my favorite one so far. This league is by far the best I've ever been in as far as parity and looking forward to every game. Almost every week there has been an excellent game that has been decided in the last minutes or gone to OT. And I think that this parity has made the forums more lively as well.

Maybe I'm not 100% in love with some of the things Bort has done, but I also think that he's done a lot of good things as well.

Just to piss off people just like you? Why do you care why I decide to continue to play and post? Perhaps is the cash I have already spent on this game. I never said this game was horrible. I just said that as the game continues to grow if it continues down the path it has so far it will start to lose more and more customers. If you dislike what I have to say quit reading my posts.

This season has been the "best" so far because we happen to have a very good league with good teams, but I am not talking about this league or the teams in it. I am talking about the way Bort carries himself, his company and his customer service.

At the same time he has done a lot of good this season too, like no longer allowing LBs to get away with 48 strength/tackling.
