You still don't get it.
My Nighthawks team did a poll like this way back in BBB10 (3 Championships ago).
One team that didn't vote continually ranked higher than they should have because there was always one fewer vote for all of their competitors.
In other words, if you are a good team and you vote you will be on every ballot but your own. If you are on a good team and you don't vote, you will be on every ballot.
And the more teams that don't vote, the more warped the results are.
Bottom line:
If EVERY team votes, having them not include themselves is great. This is as unbiased as an opinion poll can get.
If every team doesn't vote, having voters include their own team will bring about a more accurate OPINION poll.
The NCAA coaches poll allows coaches to vote for their own team, and it's the most respected poll in college football.
