2005 Longhorns. I couldn't talk right for days after that game/finish.

Other than that any of the 90's Cowboys super bowl teams, although I think the 94 team that didn't seal the deal was the best of Dallas teams.

My all time favorite NFL game was the Monday niter that Dorset ran the 99 yd TD against Min, followed by Bo killing Seattle all by himself.

Honorable mention goes to the Bo and Barry show in 89 or 90 I forget, but that game was insane.

Those cheifs teams were awesome, Okoye and Word were awesome, they would have been more awesome if LA didnt have Allen, Jackson at the same time. I do have a hard time routing for the Dallas Texans though.

I enjoyed Elway getting his trophies to finish it up, but for some reason I always think of them as one of the weaker super bowl winning teams of the modern era.

The 1985 New England Patroits were the worst Super Bowl team of all time, hence the good play of the Bears. The 1978 Steelers would have destroyed the 85 Bears. The Steelers actually had the better defense of the two. The Steelers allowed fewer points that year.

You completely underrate them. The 97 team was better of the 2 teams, but few superbowl winning teams could have hung with that team. We just rode Davis (2008 wards) to a 14-2 record. The passing numbers were down, but again I saw Davis ran for 2000 yards. All the tools were there for a passing game that would have made the 2007 pats looks merely good. Both losses came after they had locked up home field. John Elway screwing Dan Reeves out of his last real chance at glory via helicopter was just the final straw in the greatest season ever.

Had they stayed hungry they could have gone 16-0.

This is just crazy talk. Back in '78 teams hadn't figured out how to score more than a TD or 2 in a game. There were actual offensive schemes that could drop 4-5 TDs on you in the mid 80s. That era was fairly challenging to DCs since the west coast offense & other more passing-oriented offenses were just being born.

There has never been nor will ever be a defense as good as the 85 Bears.

I disagree, people didn't say, "well pitchers didn't throw the ball as fast when Babe Ruth was playing." The game evolves, schemes evolve, and players evolve. There's only one thing that doesn't lie or isn't bias, numbers. I threw the 2000 Ravens defense in as well... because I'm a loser and have too much time on my hands.

1976 Steelers
9.9 pts allowed/game during the regular season
8 games held the opponent to under 7 points (incl. 5 shutouts)
237.4 yards allowed/game
46 takeaways (3.3 per game)
19 pts allowed/game during post-season
4 Hall of Famers (Blount, Greene, Ham, Lambert)

1985 Bears
12.4 pts allowed/game during regular season
11 games held opponent to 10 points or fewer (incl. 2 shutouts)
258.4 yards allowed/game
54 takeaways (3.4 per game)
3.3 pts allowed/game during post-season
2 Hall of Famers (Hampton, Singletary)

2000 Ravens
10.3 pts allowed/game during regular season
11 games held opponent to 10 points or fewer (incl. 4 shutouts)
248 yards allowed/game
49 takeaways (3.1 per game)
5.8 pts allowed/game during post-season
0 Hall of Famers (for now)

Which leads me to my next point:

I love people like this. You DO realize that the 1976 Steelers played 14 games and the 1985 Bears played 16 games, right? The Bears were 15-1 during the regular season and the Steelers were 10-4? The Ravens were the closest thing to the 1985 Bears but having watched both teams play I think the Bears were more physical and better to the ball. That's just my opinion.

He's talking defensive side. Either that or he's missing some for the steelers too.
