What does a good o-line man need?

I don't think o-line should be measured in pancakes. My guard rarely gets a pancake, but does anyone sack the QB from between me and the center? No. Do two of our HB's on the team have over 1,000 yards rushing? Yes.. Does the QB have a lot of time to throw and is one of the top QB's in the league? Yes..

The o-line has to be good if the playmakers behind them have good stats.. Granted pancakes allow the players to get through, and generally knock that player out of the play, but still. I'd rather have a defender pulled away from me than to have to run around him and still near me.

Just sayin'.. all these guys' stats are really due to good blocking by the line, giving them time and blocks to get the yardage they want. It's probably about 60% blocking, 40% players build really

i agree 100%. but numbers are fun. yaaay.

If you have a "Best Back-up HB" position, then I would like to submit my application.

Bobby Miley - San Diego Marauders
Games 75
Rushing
Rushes 864
Yards 5,544
Y/G 73.9
Average 6.4
TDs 81
Receiving
Receptions 81
Yards 549
Y/G 7.3
Avg 6.8
YAC 5.3
TDs 7

Most of the stats come from this season, he's been a career long back-up behind the legendary Mr. Bo Knowes, I just thought I'd post some stats up there incase you felt like doing 2nd string, doubt it, but a guy can dream.

As for my lb he had missed 16 tackles when I posted originally. That would equal 90 tackles a season and less than 4 missed tackles a season. Add that in with 2.5 sacks and more than an int and ff each season and I would say he is certainly one of the best MLBs you will find.

your LB has been granted permission to sniff Ultra Man's jock...

but thats as close as you get to 'one of the best MLBs you will find'

shall we start combining HBs that split carries???

if so Jack Bruce and Marshawn Beastman are one of the best tandems in the history of ever.

Douuubttt itttt. That would belong to Bo Knowes and me, sir! He has over 2,000 yards rushing this season and I'm 200 yards away from that myself. He's on the top league rushing yards, and I'm on the top rushing TD's. Like he says, thunder and lightning.

If we used Beason as a a blitzer he would have plenty of sacks. The only season we ever did blitz him he got 9 of them. So really Ultra Man isn't that much better. Beside everyone knows the A7 west was full of scrubs last season and everyone had ample opportunity to rack up mad stats. Don't be so full of yourself!

Career Comparison

Beason
Tackles:495
TFL: 67
Sack: 15
Int: 6
FFum: 10
PD: 34
FRec: 9
Missed Tackle: 23
Hurries: 26
TDs: 2

Ultra Mann
Tackles: 335
TFL: 44
Sack: 20
Int: 9
FFum: 12
PD: 68
FRec: 5
Missed Tackle: 39
Hurries: 38
TDs: 5

Ultra Mann has missed 10% of his possible tackles, Beason has missed only 4% of his possible tackles.

Lets take a look at the competition

Ultra Man vs. Inferior Competition
This season
2 Ints 1 TD vs. KCP 1-14
2 Sacks vs. San Antonio 1-14
3 Sacks vs. Fresno 0-15
Season 5
1 sack 1 Int 1 TD vs. Dallas Red Raiders win 160-0(gut job)
1 Int vs. Los Angeles Ice Drakes win 202-0(gut job)
Season 4
2 Sacks vs. Scottsdale Sun Devils win 153-0(gut job)
1 Sack 1 Int vs. Law Town Goobacks win 158-7(gut job)

so the means 8 sacks, 4 ints, and 2 TDs vs. inferior competition

Beason vs. Inferior Competition
2 Ints 1 TD vs. Hollywood Celebrities 0-15
1 Sack vs. Northside Dreamkillers 1-14
Season 5
no sacks or ints vs. inferior competition
Season 4
3 Sacks vs. New Hampshire Dragons 134-7(gut job)
3 Sacks vs. Miami Cyclones 108-0(not a gut job but a terrible team)

so that means 7 sacks 2 ints, and 1 TD vs. inferior competition

Adjusted for legit competition would give Ultra Mann 12 career sacks, 5 career Ints, and 3 career TDs

Beason would have 8 career sacks, 4 career Ints, and 1 career TD

A difference in 4 sacks, 1 int and 2 TDs doesn't exactly make Ultra Mann better than Beason. I certainly don't think it makes up for missing a career 6% more tackles than Beason. Also Beasons tackle number blow Ultra Mann's out of the water and they are a testament to him being all over the field.

Basically don't tell one of the players on my team to sniff your jock unless you can back it up! I'll take Beason for my MLB anyday!

you are exactly right, thus making the career numbers negligable.

but why arent bruce and beastman producing this season? you could argue the passing offense angle, but their YPC aint all that either. Knowes and Miley take the cake in ypc.
