Now it seems like we're getting away from the main issue... the bottom line is - whether it is better or not, the Western conference is just as tough to play in as the East is, and it is just as hard if not harder to promote from. The East obviously has more depth, but until I'm proven otherwise I will maintain that the overall quality of the intact west teams is higher. Needless to say my lucky win over Harrisburg didn't exactly do much to make me feel proven wrong. The only way having 7 gut jobs affects anything is that it does create for unfairly easy week 16 games for 7 East teams. For the West it makes no difference because we all play them... and I say again, none of us asked those teams to gut. It just gets old reading forum posts where you guys whine constantly that there's all these gut jobs in the West and that its so so easy when it is not.

It's all good man, I'm not like furious with you.. I got annoyed at the time but I'm over it... at any rate, it was good to have a discussion on forums again, and the issue of just how hard or easy the west is should be decided soon in enough.
I don't think anyone has really said that the West is easy as far as the upper teams, they've just stated that they would enjoy having all those "free" wins.
The big claim for the East is that the #14 beat the #5. The East has more of an any team can beat any team on any given sunday effect.
Whether the top 8 in the West are better than the top 8 in the East, idk. I'm not sure how you would really gauge that. Sure the scrimmages are there, but unless the East wins 12+ inter-conference games I won't be swayed either way.
All I know is NMR is facing a team with 6 FBs for our inter-conference game. That alone scares me.

NMR, like 6 of their eastern brethren have drawn one of the gutted teams. Nobody is saying that team can beat anybody. There are 7 wins that will be free for the East in interconference matchups... here are the 9 that will matter:
Oakland Wizards vs. Cleveland Kardiac Kids - Oakland is favored here
Albuquerque Mustangs vs. Miami Canes - I would pick Albuquerque here, but this one is contested
Spicewood Longhorns vs. Miami roadfrogs - Spicewood would be favored here
Silverymoon Elves vs. NSDK - I think Silverymoon has the edge here too, but it will be contested
San Diego Marauders against Carolina wolfpack - San Diego wins big, judging by the fact that Carolina lost to harrisburg 63-17 in their last game and San Diego beat Harrisburg 52-26 in the scrimmage today
Grand Haven Mist against CCC - pretty even on paper, probably a close game here
Buffalo Rangers against Klamath Falls - another pretty even matchup, Klamath Falls might have an edge
Portland Hitmen against Athens Scoregasms - Portland is favored here
Tuscon Nighthawks against Alpine Golfers - Alpine is a clear favorite
Judging by that, I don't know that the inter conference matchups would help us gauge much either. I think the best way is for more teams to scrimmage each other... again you cant guarantee neither team is screwing around but it's really the only way to show if the below 5th place east teams match up with the 7-9th place west teams.

Based on those scrimmages I think we could actually see the West win 8 of those 9 games. I don't see Alpine losing to Tuscon but every other game looks to be imo in the West's favor.
Buffalo/Klamath is probably the best game matchup wise, but NSDK/Silverymoon will be interesting as well.

But no doubt, I think we have a good team and it was comforting to see today that we could still win with only two sacks.
Mat, I'm sure you are! Any game between NMR and the Golfers will always be a toss up. But remember that you have to get to the conference final to win it!
You are pretty disrespectful in regards to your loss to us. It wasn't like you rolled us up in our first meeting either. How can you assume if you had the right defense you would have automatically won?

It wasn't my intention to say that we had automatically won even with the right tactics, but when we held you to a six points difference with the absolutely worst set of advanced tactics I could imagine the possibility that we would have done better with our own defense is rather high. After the regular season game against you we did a lot of adjustments to our defense and we pretty much shut down teams after that. Furthermore your offensive strategy was exactly what we had set up our defense for. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, sorry about that.

I haven't scouted out Grand Haven yet but we didn't exzactly roll over for NMR. Really the only team we have rolled over for was Alpine and they intercepted us 8 times. We still held them to 250 yards of total offense.
I haven't looked at the west that closely but I know we can hang with any team over there if we don't turn it over. Only Alpine is better on D.

also their is no doubt the teams from the west that will be in the playoffs are tough. My point about the east is we have that any given sunday mentality. Do I expect us to beat the Roadfrogs today? yes, would I be shocked if we lost? probably not. They have the best Oline in the league and won't let us pressure the QB as we like. I am glad we have the parity here in the east and I wish the west had it. It isn't the good teams fault they have a ton of gut jobs, I am sure they wish it was more even. I just hope the league realignment will help solve this problem.

Hasn't quite been finalized yet, but most likely, gut teams will be moved down to BBB (or below) while sufficient teams are promoted from each conference to maintain the structure...lower level leagues will be for the but teams while the best will get moved up...
I would expect the entire A7 league (other than the gut teams) to possibly get moved up, while some teams may get moved up 2 levels...
