Well, this would be my vote (+1 to everything on the original equipment). I think if you could add whatever you wanted, it could get too powerful, but if you have to stick to a framework it would work (I'm usually pro-flexibility, but not when it makes something too powerful of an option).

I agree with the numbers aspect, but what do you think about the idea in general?

You could always tweak the amount of tokens required. You could do 3-5 tokens per slot, or you could do a token to item slot ratio (i.e. 1 token to open the first slot, 2 tokens for the second slot, 3 for the third, etc.)

It's not bad at all, in general. A gradated scale might work well (1 for first slot, 2 for second, 4 for third, etc)

Yeah that does seem like the best way to do it.

Do you see any other potential issues with the idea then?

I think it would really encourage people to log in more often, check gear, and spend tokens. It'll take away some of the hesitation in "wasting" tokens on shopping only to get crap gear, and it'll give players flexibility. Instead of everyone getting 1 shot at 3 random items, it'll allow players who really want equipment to spend more tokens to open up slots and players who just want a small chance at getting decent gear won't have to invest as much.

I don't see any glaring terrible issues with it; would have to really look a the math to make sure though.

I still think that the best suggestion is giving the advanced equipment its own socket. This allows players to equip just ONE advanced equipment at a time.

Yeah, this new equipment is pretty effing retarded. This is (what should be) a simple football RPG. It's not freaking world of warcraft or some dumb ass game like that.

i can totally agree with that bort
10 bps for an upgrade of +1 and a upgrade to the base cool thing the adv eq does is rather worthwhile

and i see your point about the soft caps, but one could easily use those sps to get things to soft caps, its still 7 sp vs +3 to a piece of adv eq

what if when selling your normal equipment you got back tokens at around a 50% (or even lower) rate of their SP value, like 5 bonus tokens per +1 upgrade level, so you'd get 5 tokens for lvl 8 equipment, 10 tokens for lvl 16 and so on. this way the new advanced equipment would be able to catch up a little to +5 normal equipment for lvl 24 and 32+ players, but still wouldn't be automatically better.

of course if something like this was done you'd have to make sure a player could only do this once in their career to prevent people just being able to buy tokens by repeatedly buying and selling normal equipment

Advanced equip is just another thing you can wear for every game instead of regular equipment, at least in the current format.

There are some 1-game items..

You can trade in 4 bonus tokens for +5 in one attribute for one game (also get 1 SP to spend and it sticks forever)

You will be able to buy 1-game boosts possibly from the store or as a normal training option.

Definitely Feel 10 BT's is way to much for 1 upgrade. My level 33 could never really own more then 1 piece of adv equipment. If I bought one and upgraded it it would take me 2.5 seasons just to get it current by then I would have gotten another 8 levels. And have to upgrade it again.

I really like the scaling cost idea. It shouldn't take a ton of time t upgrade my adv equipment.

An Idea I had was to make it use shopping tokens instead of BT's that way you can tie it in with normal training and still keep the cost at 10 shopping tokens. If you had a full set it would take you a full season to upgrade it completely which I feel is an acceptable amount of time given its advantages.
