You are all crazy.

Propane or natural gas BBQ is the only way to cook a decent cold smoked ribeye. And you cook it rare, because you don't want to lose any of that flavour.

Someone asked me to cook their steak medium well, so I told them that if they wanted me to ruin their steak, I would have just grabbed them a week old Safeway steak instead of an expensive and delicious Bulk Cheese cold smoke ribeye. I asked if they would run to the liquor store to get me a cheap bottle of blush for them to wash it down with.

when i cook steaks for a group of people(this is when i would grill them, since i dont want to do them one at a time) there is always one person that wants their steak well done. i cook them all med-rare, and then anyone who wants well done can throw it in the microwave.

As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm all about letting my steak rest off the grill, but an hour is ridiculously long.

I'm not cooking my ribeye on the grill for 'grill flavor'. I'm cooking it on the grill because I can slap it over the sear burner where my grill is over 800 degrees.

Also, to the cast iron on the stove then into the oven guys...I get the point that's how many chefs cook their steaks, but we don't own commercial stovetops (aka our home stoves don't get as hot and won't get as nice a sear on them). I don't think on the stove is a bad way of cooking a steak, it's just not as good as grilling it (with the right grill, ldo).

Maybe it is a Canadian thing, but I'll BBQ one steak for just me outside in a blizzard before I would use my stove to cook a steak.

Of course I don't seem to get the cravings for steak in the Winter nearly as often because I'd rather enjoy my time at the grill.

That is how some of the most respectable chefs cook their steak, including Gordon Ramsey's.

He's fucking English. The day I take grilling advice from a fucking Englishmen is the day I appear on Vanity Fair's cover as a woman.

You two are kind of dicks? Who gives a shit how someone else wants their steak?

I'll give them the shittier steak of the lot, sure, because they aren't going to care anyway, but I'm not going to be an ass about it.

Nope, not just a Canadian thing at all. And I'll cook a ton of steaks in the winter. And enjoy doing it.
