Case in point why I'd like AWD:

We got some snow last night. Roads have been warm so they're fine. Bridges and overpasses are obviously slick, being that it is cold and they are not insulated by the ground. The two routes I have between my house and the interstate that gets me to my work are closed because of respective 13 and 20 car pileups on bridges. God forbid I was in the middle of that, I'd like the traction to either stop before I hit dipshit speeder A in front of me or a little extra traction to get out and around the crash as it was happening.

Its not going to make any difference in that scenario. AWD is almost exclusively about "go" and almost nothing about "stop". If there is so much ice and snow that a FWD vehicle can't "go", then you don't really need to be out there, even if you have AWD. AWD isn't going to significantly increase your stopping power.

"then you really don't need to be out there" isn't an option for everyone.

Massively this. A pharmacy isn't a job you can just close. And I'm paying for school, I will be goddamned if I don't go and absorb every second of it.

It'd be really nice if people stopped dying when it snows. Let's add holidays, weekends and night time to that, too.

I think it would be easier for me to get a sugar momma to buy me a 2015 Forester than it would be to find a used one that isn't $1K overpriced before tax and D&H

Some people are really depressing. Who has nothing better to do on Easter, Christmas Eve, New Years Day, etc, than go to a pharmacy

You're being silly. If in your local area (and weather is local--"snow" in Denver is different than "snow" in Ohio or Texas or ...) its not advisable for people to be out and about, then you shouldn't be out and about. If you're hellbent on pretending otherwise, go buy a used Hummer and end this charade of a discussion. Otherwise, research the fact that 4WD is about "go" and WAY less about "stop" and enjoy the lesser price affordable by buying FWD.

Really if he wants to get through the anything a snowstorm throws at him he should buy a Toyota 4runner, FJ Cruiser or a rubicon jeep wrangler, or something like that.

Are they included in a level 2 snow emergency (or whatever the Colorado equivalent is)? Pretty sure not.

The pharmacy has closed once since our RM took over. She's been the RM for 10 years.
