Yes, NO, NO, NO,NO on the Jeep Patriot. That car is the biggest piece of shit I've ever had the displeasure of working on. For some reason the injectors always fail on these cars. I did these repairs for a good family friend for the cost of parts. He said that he took it into the dealership, and they replaced the injectors. About a year the car wouldn't work AGAIN. I checked it out, and the injectors had a layer of carbon caked on them that ruined the new ones. The 4wd on this thing was also a joke. I don't know what year this Patriot was built but it was a poorly built, cheap piece of shit. I felt like the skimped on A LOT of things in this particular jeep, I'd avoid it at all cost.

As far as the Chevy goes I would do some research. Chevy is hit and miss, and in the last few years they've had many major recalls, and a few engines known for premature failure. Some of their vehicles however I hear are perfectly reliable vehicles.

I may be old school by saying this, but I would also be weary of cars with direct injection. They have massive carbon build up problems, and not all manufacturers know how to implement direct injection into their cars properly. We are STILL finding out the quirks, and drawbacks of direct injection.

ive had my Colorado for 6 yrs, great truck. I also bought a Chevy Traverse last year when we knew we would have 2 kids. its fully loaded and only had 31k miles when we bought it. all around great car so far, drives like its a Sedan, and gets great gas mileage for an SUV

Chevy has some really good vehicles, don't get me wrong, it's just that there are a few models, specifically a few trims that I remember hearing have issues. Buicks, oddly enough seem to be the most reliable vehicles in GM's fleet. I've hardly ever seen any Buicks that need any sort of repair. They seem to be getting big praise for their build quality as well from reviewers.

GM products are really like a box of chocolates, ya never know what you're going to get. I drive two GM products myself

The best car I ever drove was a 1999 GMC Jimmy. Thing was a goddamn champ and stood up to a 55mph tbone from a Suburban and drove away from it.

Why did they stop making them? I'd buy the shit out of a 2015 Jimmy

Best/Worst thing about the Internet?

You think you have an original idea, but when you Google it, there are already pages of results.

Chewbaccacabra is such a money word to say, you don't even know it.

rams you need to find someone with an older Consumer Reports with their auto-edition book. Your local library might even have it. Easiest way to get an objective view of ownership costs, safety ratings, performance metrics, etc.

I don't think consumer reports is really a good idea, I never found their information to be really accurate. I always see Toyota's in their top 10, Toyota's that have HUGE problems the last few years, the biggest one being oil consumption at very low mileages, this oil consumption is caused by bad piston rings which equates to having to get a new engine eventually.

The GMC Jimmy was the same as the Chevy Blazer.

Their information is exactly accurate. They use science, ldo. They'll tell you exactly what their data is based on/calculated from. It's not subjective scoring. You just won't find 10 year reliability histories from Edmunds or any other source. Consumer Reports does the homework in an unbiased way.

Whether or not you consider the data they used valid or important, that's a different discussion. Most people have developed hatred for consumer report's auto ratings because it's almost always Toyota/Honda > Ford/GM. But that's been Ford/GM's fault, not Consumer Reports (not so much in the near near recent, but in the last 10 years+).

We get the day off of work on Friday to celebrate the death of Jesus.

They call it Good Friday. Like, good thing Jesus was tortured and killed.

It is really fucked up that this is a national holiday in 2015.

People on the sales floor at my work are griping they don't get Easter off when they get Christmas. Like it should be some guaranteed entitlement thing that they get their religious day off (they already get one) when no other religion is afforded the same thing.
