If I had to guess, no. Screens seem a lot more on rails than normal pass plays. I’ve not ever really seen a scramble from a screen set up before.

Yeah, screens are pretty scripted as I recall.

I'm glad to see a lot of activity in this thread. And Corndog thank you for all of your involvement.

We can talk about S*, builds, coaching, tactics, etc. all day long but in the end here's what's important:

The game is complicated.

And.

There is NO amount of changes, adjustments, etc. that is suddenly going to allow new users to compete in a PVP-type game against experienced users.

Period.

The only way to have new players compete with the old is for the new players to learn as much as possible about everything. And that's hard. Because it takes motivation on the new user, and time from the old users.

Where's the Discord channel? Where's the Streaming sessions on player builds, coaching tactics, etc.? The YouTube videos?

I disagree that the old players only want changes that continue with them continually to stomp on new players. I see old players constantly sharing information.

The problem is how to get that info absorbed by new players. For the most part, this forum is all there is. And all of the "teaching" posts were written literally years ago and are so buried in the forums that no one could find them.

We can't just continue to use forum postings as the way to communicate.

Bort & Cdog have provided a game that has a lot of balance across many different flavors of Offense and Defense. The issue isn't them. The issue is the community isn't teaming up as efficiently as possible in onboarding new players and getting them through the gauntlet of learning that is required to compete at the highest level of a PVP game.

So rather than make code changes to the game, there needs to be better content distribution of the knowledge needed to have competitive play at the highest levels.

The deeper the coaching bench is the more S* that will get created - no matter what the system is for gaining them.

Xars, from what I'm seeing you and I are on the same exact page really on most of this.

The only thing I can think of that would help is the Devs giving a few of us like MOD status on Discord to help maybe make a learning channel.

Other than that, some of us vets could get together and do what Rob. did back in the day for a ton of people; he had build general rules and coaching tactics in a forum that gave a specific area for them to learn and adjust from.

For the NEW players, a lot of us did not get good magically. We put in a ton of work experimenting and trying things out. Hell, I learned my defense specialty back when there was no Scout tool. I was dealing with the Stunners and Hayrows pure run teams that were impossible to stop. I spent days and hours watching the film on these guys and by handwriting down all the plays that stuffed theirs. From that, I got to destroy Hayrows run team. I never got my shot at the stunners back then.

I learned offense from a number of people. Rob. and I had plenty of talks, he even gave me a base set to look at. Detriot Leos and I had tons of talks and theories.

Summing this all up, we used to do so much game-planning and working together to figure things out.

You wanted to part of that, dealing with them and Hayrow on a regular basis just blew. Steve, Madden, and I would talk frequently but those early years were brutal

How long ago did you walk away? That will depend on what the "major" changes would be. It's much more balanced the way offenses and defenses work with a couple new SA. Just depends.

It was crazy times. I felt bad complaining but all the virtual work was killing me there were so many things I knew how to explain to employees in 5 minutes face to face that took hours via MS teams.

Those were some brutal early leagues on time commitment. We won that league Season 6 , but season 5 we totally missed the playoffs and that was actually a better team we had the year before. Even the guys in Beta division who were the "laughing stock" we took a game off of game planning threw I threw in a quick Offensive game plan without scouting and we lost. Anytime you didnt scout (pre-scout tool) you got beat.

There was 1 CPU team in that league and it was like oh thank god I get a break.
