+1 to wise
He makes a good case about 4 leagues being better than 2. I agree that the system proposed by jdbolick and Catch makes for the best competition for near-WL teams but it creates a mess at the level below the hemispheres.
The only thing that doesn't really work, but it's window dressing anyway, is the conferences as the old regions. There's no point in having say a USA conference when teams won't be able to choose what conference they go into. But that doesn't have anything to do with good promotions/demotions, so no big deal imo.

Imo of the regional pro promotes, you can still have teams pick their desired conference, with the best record teams (use tiebreakers) getting first choice. but ya not a huge deal imo.

+1 to Wise and I'd also suggest fixing the sorting algorithm for both entering Reg Pro AND entering Nat Pro. Reducing the Nat Pro Leagues is fine but it doesnt solve the source of the problem which will come right back in a few seasons.

+1 to WiseMaN's suggestion
Agreed 100%.
The stats with the competitive games actually make the situation look better than it is. Most of the time, these teams know they are at least going to make the CCG so they don't even GP at all in the regular season, allowing much weaker teams to get within 60 points.
Another advantage of this new system is that it would reduce the variance of WL qualification. Right now, there's a huge amount of variance based upon which league you are in. With plateau being only 3 seasons long, it can be a huge disadvantage to a WL-calibre team if they're stuck in a conference with another team like them.
Retaining the pro league teams (SAPL, OPL, etc..) is another thing that is a pretty great result of this suggestion. We can still have the league forums and stuff but we'd just have 16 teams instead of 32.

Change promotion..
You can't possibly be this retarded... There is no way
