I don't see why people are in an uproar about Pokemon Go when Ingress has been around for years and is essentially the same game albeit with a different flavor.

Android phones aren't vulnerable to that. It doesn't have access to those areas.

Yeah, I know. Thing is, Android phones aren't that secure anyway. iPhones are (were?).

That would be news to me. It's always had a better permission system. Unless you're talking about rooting to add apps Google doesn't allow in the app store?

Yeah I get the Pokemon attraction/craze, it's the other uproar about it being dangerous, a govt spy tool, etc etc.

Really? Thought it was pretty well known that Android is not secure.

How many times have the FBI demanded Google unlock a phone? Do you think that is because terrorists don't use Android, or that the FBI doesn't need help with those?

The craze is actually further reaching than even that. The social aspects are also pretty incredible.

There's been tons of impromptu meetups from someone using a lure that increases spawn rates within an area. I've seen normally shy clerks go into a huge discussion about their Pokemon with random ass people. Hell, it's even invading dating app profiles, people meeting to catch Pokemon together (and then do something else with their Pokeballs, most likely).

It's pretty amazing actually. One of the biggest social provocateurs in a long time is a (kind of dumb) kids game.

Downside... hearing stories of people dropping lures and being robbed by guys who used a lure... and someone mentioned ped's using it to attact kids.

Pokemon Go has a cool concept, but people like I mentioned above are assholes.

From what I'm aware of, all of the terrorists have used Apple phones instead of Android or Windows phones. I have no idea how true this is, but I've gotten the impression that the FBI's been a little incompetent in regards to getting into things. I think it was the ex-CIA director who called the FBI's efforts embarrassing. FBI finally got into the phone, but had to pay the Chinese in order to do it.

Regardless, Apple/Android/Windows phone locks and how secure they are I believe are all damn near the same.
