But yeah Knick and most other health care professionals can back me up on that point. 99.99% of cost is manufacturers and insurances doing whatever the hell they want with zero reason ever given, and .01% is supply/demand/regular factors. Screaming at your doctor/pharmacist/anyone else will not do anything but get you substandard care.

Also, protip: most insurances won't cover cough medicines, because they aren't medically necessary. Codeine-based ones are the most rarely covered, hydrocodone-based ones are slightly more often covered. Tessalon/benzonatate is the most common one covered, if they do choose to cover it. Medicaid will never pay for cough medicines, medicare may do so for chronic cough with a prior authorization arrangement between the doctor and insurance.

OTC items: if your doctor gives you a prescription for something over the counter, it's usually best to buy it over the counter. It's nice that you have the prescription and the doctor may actually really want you on something, but again insurances won't cover them most of the time. We don't mind trying to submit it for you most times, but don't be surprised. And pharmacies do charge a filling fee, so it ends up being more expensive to buy it without insurance through the pharmacy than just getting it OTC.

You know that assigning any of that to me makes less than no sense right? I have zero sway on premiums, how much the insurance will actually cover, if they will cover it, what the doctor prescribes, or the manufacturing costs.

You're the moron that screams at technicians because you have no idea what you're paying for or participating in.

you literally said that you work harder for some people to lower their price.
so, yeah, I get to blame you for higher prices if you are not adhering to the same standard across the board.

So do most people in every industry across the globe. You really cant come in here acting like you'd double your workload and cut your productivity in half to help drive down the cost of every single transaction or proceeding you take part in for every person you see.
So, no, you don't get to blame me for the price of healthcare in the united states for not applying an extra discount card to Mr. Screamy McDipshit Sr.'s oxycodone. But I will take full credit for helping any and every person I come into contact with who is civil.

Also, there's a difference between doing your job, and going out of your way to help out people because insurance companies are the absolute worst.

Original message of "don't be a dick" still remains.

Double this. I've never denied someone service, denied a sale, or refused to submit it to their insurance. I'm not that mean of a person. But if someone is threatening me, I don't really feel the need to do anything more.

right. cause someone buying booze is exactly the same thing as someone buying medically related prescriptions, and the same types of standards should apply

He doesn't control prices, he just has the experience to know how to abuse the current system in favor of the customer.

When the customer is a dick, you just let the system work how it's supposed to.

it just goes to show you even more how the whole system is for profit, as opposed to service oriented. which is a goddammed shame when it comes to health care
