I wouldn't call it the fast track. Our final 2 games are against 10-4 Oakland and 13-1 Vancouver. We have to win one of those to have a chance.

Apparently, Ferris State only needs to win one of their final 2 to get in the playoffs. They face 4-10 Chicago and 7-7 San Jose.

We have a 1 game lead over Montreal, but they beat us head to head. They face 5-9 Gulf Coast and 10-4 Waterloo.



euh; we are facing the Chicqgo Red Bulls, who are 10-4, and San Jose.

Looks like the only sub .500 team left on any of our schedules is Gulf Coast for Montreal. That's a must win, that almost certainly gets them in the playoffs. Unless us Longhorns can steal one against Oakland or Vancouver.

If we win, we are in.
If we lose, but Montreal lose, we are in
If we lose and Montreal win, see in 2 weeks

If Maine wins and Montreal lose, they are in
If Maine and Montreal wins, see in 2 weeks

We have a 3 way tie, with all teams involved being 1-1 against the other teams in the tie.

I was wrong before, Myrtle Beach and Virginia aren't quite out of it yet.

Most unlikely situations:

First we're starting by assuming Maine wins at least one game.

Gulf Coast beasts Montreal and Nebraska
Ferris State loses to Chicago Red Bulls and San Jose
Myrtle Beach loses a game

That would mean Gulf Coast is in and Ferris State and Montreal are out.

However, I counted Myrtle Beach out too early. They're not quite out.

Lets Montreal and Ferris State lose their last 2, and Gulf Coast and Myrtle Beach win their last 2. Then you have Ferris State, Gulf Coast, and Myrtle Beach in a round-robin tie. If Myrtle Beach can end the season with more points than Ferris State and Gulf Coast, Myrtle Beach is in.

If Maine wins, though, Virginia is out.

But what if Maine doesn't win?

Lets say, hypothetically, Ferris State, Maine, and Montreal all lose out, Virginia wins out, and Myrtle Beach and Gulf Coast each lose a game. Then, Virginia is in a round-robin 3-way tie with Ferris State and Maine, and at that point the 2 of those 3 teams with the most points scored make the playoffs.

Clear as a bell. I guess we at Maine should just win both games and leave the rest to fight it out.

It's certainly complicated and tight for all the playoff spots. Top 3 teams, the #4 spot, and the 7th and 8th spots, are all log-jammed with 1-1 h2h type situations.
