that's not a rule anywhere else.

but that's the point of the structure.
the creation of the GG forum (subject to universal forum rules) means that the CPL forum (subject to whatever rules you guys create) means that the GG crowd can never complain about how they're treated in the CPL forum.

But...they will.

If we create a GG sub forum, they'll complain that CPL should be the sub forum and not CPL GG

which is why i have already suggested co-subforums.

Having to click one more time to get to CPL is :effort:

Really, the fact that four moderators, who by the definition of the job should ease tension on the forum, have managed to escalate the tensions to the point where the administrators have sanctioned the creation of this private forum speaks volumes of their ability to perform their assigned tasks.

i agree...

but one counter-argument is that it's not necessarily the moderators' fault if the rabble doesn't like being forced to obey the rules.

another counter-argument is that perhaps the moderators should be even more pro-active and prevent certain people from being mocked into a coronary in the first place.

counter argument: VT and DB seem to manage just fine

As do Stobie and Chessey.

THIS GOD DAMN IT

CPL Moderators as in who ever doesn't fuck shit up every time they go there should be in charge

I get PMs from time to time from users asking for help from their forum (so does deathblade)
I try to pass the buck to another moderator who might know better so i don't pull a shitty job.

Put Moderator X, Y, Z, AA in CPL
Put Moderator AB, AC, AD, and AE in the others

Ta Da

Of course, considering most outsiders consider CPL to be "/b/-lite" or "FFA-lite" than I can say safely that I don't mind that they hate us, as long as we're allowed to keep on trucking.

well... that's somewhat the effect of being closer to the subject -- you see the granularity in things. kind of like how only a wine snob would insist that a vinho verde really isn't a white wine.
the perception of the CPL as equivalent to FFA or even /b/ is still a valid perception, no matter how wrong it technically is.

It's a valid perception in the sense that somebody who speaks neither czechoslovakian nor polish could confuse the two. That is to say, it's an ignorant and incorrect perception

bolded.
the point isn't to judge who's right/wrong... the point is to solve/prevent the problem. you'll never stop the flood of people the misperceive the CPL... so the only permanent solution is to deflect/contain them.

So, if by this post, I perceive that you are a child molester, I should report you to police and have you arrested, even if it is completely inaccurate?

you're misunderstanding why perceptions are valid in a structural argument.

but sure, if you think someone is a child molester, by all means please report that to the police. they'll take things from there.

okay... why aren't people getting this?
it doesn't matter why they're upset. they will always be upset. or GLB comes crashing down on their side, and then you guys would be upset. there will always be this disagreement... it will never go away.
so not that that's settled, what possible solutions could there be? short of deciding completely in favor of one side or the other, how about segregating the groups into two different forums.
sounds great. prevents all complaints. problem solved.

The last line of your post is invalidated by the first.

are you saying people will be constantly confused about which subforum to go into?

It does if you ignore it for long enough.

but then it just escalates... you need bort to ignore it, too.

or just wait until GLB runs out of new users.

And pretty much every other major enemy the US has had for the past 60 years.

That said: I'm not necessarily wholly against an addition of a new sub-forum for them, i'm just saying it won't help so if we go into things with that plan it would be tantamount to starting GLB with someone like DD in charge of customer support.

so... why do you think it wouldn't help?

lol @ GLB running out of new users if people don't like CPL.

If people are in CPL, they have already been around for approximately a year.
