interesting - thanks. My guy only had around 30 conditioning --- certainly could have been luck. A lot of the ones I saw were "getting absolutely lit up by a LB" rather than the common dragged down or pushed down.

Even a minimal investment in power running (20-25 and up) leads to more fumbles because it isn't just Tackle Roll - Tackle its Tackle Roll - FF/BT Roll - Tackle Roll - FF/BT Roll - Tackle.
It isn't a reach to say that to reliably hold onto the ball Carry Grip needs to be 75%-85% of your Power Running value. Even in rookie.

Also - I just put all end of rookie points into conditioning to take it to 60. Could be interesting to see if there is a significant fumble reduction (also - all fumbles I saw were fairly close to the line of scrimmage...not long runs gone awry)
interesting dee. at the moment - I'm 40 carry grip / 40 power running / 60 cond / 35 sprint.
Like I said - I'm going to do things a lot different on my next pickup HB - and try to maximize rushing yards at every tier (including rookie) - but I didn't do that here (lazy)

Conditioning also gives you more top speed than sprinting does, so there's that bonus.

well first game as a sophomore. 60 cond. 40 grip. 45 power (+5 power running style). 35 speed. 2 fumbles on 25 rushes (also 9 targets)
bad luck.
or
X FACTOR! Hidden bonuses / penalties created behind the scenes at player creation!
mine must be some kind of 'fumble proclivity' curse.

Lol, that is ridic. Honestly, 30 con in rookie isn't exactly nothing. Probably not a con issue.
Power running style does lead to more fumbles though because your dot is seeking out more big impacts.

I think balance plays a part. Power running is pushing through mediocre tackles and trying to right your balance to shed the tackle. I think even with a just shed tackle attempt, you still take a few ticks to regain full balance. In that time you can be lit up.
Elusive backs tend to go down immediately, especially at early levels, so its harder to force a fumble against them.

If that is true, probably something to think about on Spin builds.

So I'm done with my YAC WR experiment... I guess next I'll try the pass def DE... I know it has been done before but I want to see if it's viable to even invest skills in the stat.

My Seasoned team's whole d-line is built around this premise. These two are the pass defense specialist DE's:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/175533
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/175535
13 PD's between them, so not amazing, but they've still got a lot more room to grow their skills to get more. Compared to the 27 deflections that my DT's have put up, and it's possible the DE position just doesn't get that many opportunities.
If you get more success with your DE in his Sophomore Pickup campaign (although it'd be really hard to tell since there's no stat accumulation), I'd be curious to know what you did differently.

I created a spreadsheet that tallies the stats that are given on the page. There's a thread around here somewhere with it... Let me know which position you need I can post it here.

This YAC build doesn't really kick in until Vet probably sooner with boost and more receiving skills... Might be worth it on a S* WR and more sprinting.
