And if I hear 'Oho it's Sprinter!" one more time, someones getting stabbed.

hmm, apparently my neighborhood has a pack of coyotes living in it

i live in the..."rural burbs" of a city, kind of suburban but more rural, and like to go for late night jogs since its cooler out, less traffic, and less noise. After getting halfway up the huge hill down the road a bit from my house, I decide to just walk a bit to catch my breath.

After a minute or two, 3 coyotes come running out from the bush, and kind of form a circle around me for about 20 yards before deciding to run away

kind of weird and unexpected

I spotted one when running once too. We were both about 50 yards apart--he made sure I wasn't a threat to him and I made sure he wasn't a threat to me and then we both moved on in different directions.

Worst ending ever.

"Use your imagination! It ended how you wanted it to end" No. Fuck that. If I wanted to use my imagination I'd read a book and we all know Im watching the movie because I dont want to read.

Odd behavior, they're generally super skittish. They're scavengers and typically will keep distance and bail at any sign of potential confrontation.

Well, they were "circling" at a distance, like they didn't know wtf to do

Perhaps they're territorial (mating?) at the moment and realized you still weren't worth messing with. If you were a neighborhood dog it might have been a different story.

Small pets yes but they will stay the hell away from people unless desperate.

I honestly couldn't tell you how many coyotes I've shot. They are right up there with beavers as far as nuisance animals go.

You probably have a bunch of hybrids (there are a ton of coyote/wolf hybrids that populate/thrive, I remember reading a study that said 1/3 of all the Coyotes in Massachusetts were actually hybrids)

In a bizarre story surrounding coyotes, just a couple years ago there was a dog nearby where I lived in NJ that ran away. They found it with a group of coyotes. It had become the alpha and was leading this group of coyotes (don't ask how that happens). Once they located it where the pack hung out, even the owners couldn't attract the dog back by calling to it from ~50 yards. It had to be trapped.
