If the AI feature was working properly I would have to agree that you much become more tactical of fall behind but it does not work right and it screw up the game. Just like with any MMO or any video game for that matter this game is built upon rules and mechanics.
The game is fucked up, and the mechanics are completely wacked. Simple fact it Bort is trying to do this alone and he bit off more than he can chew especially since he not only tried to implement the AI but at the same time messed with WR speed, kicking distances and pass rushing. What fucked up what? Who knows he did like 10 things at once. That is a fundamental no-no when programming or trouble shooting.
Personally I would like to see the season restarted and the code rolled back to the season 3 build. From there have him implement “Test Leagues” where larger projects like the AI can be player tested in a controlled environment prior to mass release. From there after the mechanics have been further tested you use the general player base to load test.
This new AI was not tested to the fullest and give that many people are paying out good money to build up teams and players it is unfair even in a game that is labeled “beta” to completely hose your players playing experience while a lone developer tried to “figure it out.”
So where I see what you are saying and I would agree (if things were working) I think the timing of that statement is a bit premature.
