very interesting start to the season, esp. in Zeta

Bikini barely survived going 0-2 by beating the Horsemen by a FG. Christchurch pulls off the "upset" over Tonga. The Bandits take out Coney Island by 6.

going to be exciting to watch this unfold. Stay tuned to Melbourne's second game of the season in AAA in about an hour or so. Came away with a big win in week 1 as our D bent but didn't break and our offense cracked off some very, very long TD plays, including two TD runs of over 90 yards

Wow... The Ramekins are in trouble while we wait for our owner to hit his 14th day of inactivity so we can get a new owner. We have 1 OG on our team and he isn't on the depth chart. So, what the heck, why doesn't the sim go wild and play two defensive tackles at guard?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=106370&pbp_id=1375645

Result: 9 sacks, 10 hurries. The NMI starting QB was sacked 6 times this game (8 all of last season) and hurried 10 (24 all of last season). We play 3 games between now and new-owner time... The over/under on how many sacks our "offensive" line gives up in the next 3 games is 25. Any takers?

It's a good thing that Bort hasn't put in the player injuries... My QB would be pooping into a colostomy bag after that game.

Zeta Conference Rankings - Week 2

14. FPQA Ronnie Rockerz (34.7) - Another week, another record high ranking for FPQA! And if you think that's shocking, how about this gem - possibly the most unexpected set of words ever to grace the gilded posts of these rankings: The FPQA Ronnie Rockerz, prohibitive favorites in their game this week, are expecting a big win.

And we delivered...I guess. Not much we could learn from this game but we hope this trend continues.

Last season was, for all intents and purposes, fairly predictable. Sure, you had a few notable upsets (Chinese over Christchurch, to name one), but everything was pretty cut-and-dried. Now, not so much. Not so much at all. This conference is VERY wide open; there are a good 6 teams at the top right now that have a very legitimate chance at earning the 1-seed for the playoffs. No joking at all. Man alive, what a game...

LOL - he's having a good season through two games, but no TD today...he did take his first kick back 50 yards though, and he's averaging almost 40 yards per kick return and about 13 on punts (punt returning seems pretty crappy so far this season)

We're doing our part to show the guys above that AA#2 is no joke...2-0 against middle of the road AAA teams...now we get our first true playoff calibre team on Wednesday which will really tell us if we're ready for AAA or not

Zeta Conference Rankings - Week 3

Formula Changes - None

1. Dunedin Wolverines (87.2) - Another week, another #1. The Four Horsemen will be pleased to see this as #1s haven't fared too well so far. Both teams are offensively oriented so this could be a slugfest.

2. Bikini Atoll Mushroom Clouds (86.623) - Back to #2, despite earning no margin of victory points so far this year. Things look more promising in the next two weeks. The margin to start scoring Sarg-points for #2 vs. #9 is 8 points and #2 vs. #16 is 41 points. However, Uluru is still the toughest matchup faced by the #2-#5 teams, so margin of victory could work against them again this week. Notice I took the score to 3 decimal places here. You'll find out why in a second.

3. Chinese Bandits (86.621) - The Bandits probably wanted a bigger win vs. Coney, but 2-0 is 2-0. Actually, in this case 2-0 is 3-0 since they're not likely to drop one to Cimmeria. Tonga in week 4 will be tougher when chemistry could be a concern. Oh, and speaking of ...

4. Tonga Thunderbirds (86.620) - How's this for a close race at the top of the rankings? They also have a favorable matchup this week in Redscape before the showdown with the Bandits.

5. Christchurch Knightmares (86.619 ... just kidding, 83.7) - Pulled off a huge win in Tonga and are rewarded with FPQA and semi-gutted NMI. Oh yeah, and the Shrooms, too.

6. El Fuego (80.6) - You have to think their potent offense will get it done against Coney's patented "Cholesterol" defense. The Warriors do like to surprise opponents though, and you certainly can't take a matchup between two power ranking neighbors lightly.

7. Coney Island (77.4) - After nearly pulling it off vs. the Bandits, they can't be too upset with their start. Another big test against the Fuegans is due up, but nothing's ever easy for the Warriors.

8. Four Horsemen (72.7) - They get a 3rd chance for sedning a message in 3 games. They're probably not that upset about the loss to the Shrooms, but I should point out they would have been #6 if they had finished with a 1 point win.

9. Uluru Rockies (67.3) - Tough, tough game up this week. Hey, win it and there's a shot at moving up the ranking further!

10. Redscape Diplomats (62.7) - Ditto.

11. Tasmania Sand Gnats (53.9) - After two games against title contenders, they'll bring their solid running attack against the Chenabogs in what looks like a good matchup for them.

12. Cimmerian Barbarians (52.3) - Could be an ugly two weeks facing offensive minded contenders.

13. ... err ... hang on one sec ... this can't be right ... let me recalc ...

13. FPQA Ronnie Rockerz (49.7) - They got the big 54-point win! I have to imagine that's got to help morale on the team forums.

14. Mauna Kea Chenabogs (49.2) - I don't really know what to say here. They've actually had decent showings relative to their competition in the first two games and I feel kind of guilty putting them last among the non-gutted teams, but that's just how the math breaks down this week.

15. NMI Ramekins (Inc) - Now that they have a new owner, they'll be looking to turn their nose-dive around. It's certainly been the least destructive gutting I've seen so far. Assuming the new owner has the right stuff, there's no reason they have to be relegated this season. He even gets a nice welcoming gift as the Pistons game is up on the schedule.

16. Pumped Up Pistons (Inc) - Gutted and pretty much hopeless, it's hard to see any situation in which the Pistons will win a game this season.

I was concerned at first when Dunedin won, but I'm glad to see my cursing power wasn't nerfed, after all!

Hmmmm confused by the only one ranking move after beating the number 1. Thanks though for your efforts as always Sarg. And now moving to 3-0 that should move us up quite a bit.
