The game of the week looks like it's going to be The Stingrays versus The Stars.
this one might come down to a late field goal for South Yorkshire. Either way this one should be a slobberknocker.
Storms pick- the Stars
Darts pick- The Rays

Good game South Yorkshire Stars.

Week 3 results.....lets see how we did

IKK did indeed roll out the barrel on the Beers........they didn't get as many rushing yards as I thought they would, but 4 rushing t.d.'s will get it done every time. IKK crushes belgium.

Marseille puts together a nice balanced attack and dominates the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, Sweden had no answer and only manages a field goal.

I called this one the game of the week and it didnt disappoint. South Yorkshire Ran all over Southriding, however The Sting Rays d was opportunistic forcing 3 fumbles and collecting 2 picks. When the Stars weren't scoring they were giving the ball to The Rays with a short field.......this was a hell of a game. Both teams scored in all 4 quarters. I think the playoff rematch with be equally entertaining.

Spaniards versus Belfast, as predicted it was an air war. Belfast was able to move the ball on the ground and that was the difference.

*SNAP* and sure enough they didnt even break stride.......Lyon pounds team lazy like flank steak.

Vikings only allow 56.5 yards on the ground, while gaining 344 soul crushing yards of their own.

Leave it to Bow street to make a liar out of me. Glasgow kept taking the ball away from the runners and did enough on offense to win.

Cork City rains destruction down on Belgrade. (on a side note Belgrade, keep your heads up you had a killer schedule early. hang in there).

So lets see 7 and 1 for me, that brings the season total to 19 and 5.
dart on the other hand is was 3 and 5, bringing him back to even at 12 and 12.

Ok week four here we come, and the dart has some ground to make up.

Clash of the titans as the Rabid Mutineers get a visit from the Argonauts......this is probably the game of the week. It'll be Marseille's game planning versus Ikk's level advantage. Since I have to pick a winner, I think IKK will take it, but, it should be a great game.
Storms pick- IKK (in a coin flip)
Darts pick- tie (missed the board again)

Bow Street gets to walk into the meat grinder that is Stars stadium......I think Southey is going to smack bow street in the teeth (and the sim will have nothing to do with it)......more than once in fact. South Yorkshire in a blowout. Their defense is too tough for the runners.
Storms pick- Stars
darts pick- Runners

The Lazytowners get broken in half again. Belfast is on a roll that will continue right over Reykjavik.
Storms pick- Belfast
Darts pick- Belfast

Lyon gets Belgium at home where they should empty a whole keg of whoop ass on the Beers. They will find their weaknesses (which are numerous) and exploit them. The Breakers should be able to push them around up front so look for alot of rushing yards and medium and deep passes into a weak secondary.
Storms pick- Lyon
Darts pick- lyon

this is a tough one once again. game plan versus numerical superiority.......If anyone can find the holes its the Rays....
Storms pick- Rays
Darts pick- Vikings

Glasgow against Cork City......its going to be a good game.....I think we can take them.
Storms pick- Wildcats
Darts pick- Wildcats

Sweden versus Port St. Lucie.......both teams need it bad. Sweden has a better team, I think?
Storms pick- Sweden
Darts pick- Knuckle dusters

Spaniard Warriors showed something in their last game and Belgrade isn't there yet.
Storms pick- Warriors
Darts pick- warriors

So there you have it.....as always.....GOOD LUCK GENTLEMEN.

The sim will have something to do with it...that's where the games are played y'know.
(add all sorts of sarcastic smileys here).

I think only an idiot would deny that we've been hit very hard by the changes to the sim and the new AI. However, SYS are very good, and we will struggle to keep this even close. I hope the new twists I just added to our D may help at least a bit.

BTW: words I never thought I'd write....go Glasgow.

....yeah I didn't even have to root for South Yorkshire since I knew they were going to win......hows the view from below?

Congrats to the Stars. We just didn't have what it took to stop that rushing attack.
I thought it was closer than it actually turned out scorline wise. Ah well. I always have a hard time keeping track.

I have to say, there were two plays that REALLY annoyed me :

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=98801&pbp_id=2387532
That's pretty messed up. There are real life explanations, but I'm going to guess that the player has the "Dive extra yards" skill and thus being stopped 3 yards short of the goalline doesn't matter.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=98801&pbp_id=2387877
Took me half a dozen viewings to realise that the LOLB doesn't just bite on the fake to the FB, he swallows it and is off for after dinner mints. Wouldn't believe he has a perfectly reasonable Vision score would you? In that situation I want all my LBs sticking to what is in front of them, not rushing off to the other side of the field, especially when a huge gap opens up for you to make a TFL...argh.

Brown sticky stuff happens (and having a toddler I'm used to the smell). We've now played three of the best teams in our division. On a better day I do think we can beat both Glasgow and South Yorkshire based on these performances (not SHOULD, CAN) so its hard to be too unhappy.

Pretty clear we won't be mounting the sort of challenge we did last year though. The changes in the sim, changes in opposition, and personnell issues have cost us a lot.

I just went through the BSR-SYS game...there are some very clear key plays that made the result what it was. Quite a few times we got them into situations where we had chances to get the momentum...but couldn't get the job done. Key point of each? either a BSR player screwed up (missed tackles primarily) or SYS did just enough (getting a step n the CB, good blocking).

Not a lot you can do against that unfortunately

At least I have this play to make me happy:

game 4 results.....wow i missed on a couple of these.

Marseille got rolled by IKK who just dismantled a good team. johnny suave and 5 turnovers killed the Argonauts.

Bow street couldn't move the ball as the Stars did, that was pretty much end of story.

the Lazytowner did indeed get broken into multiple pieces by Belfast.

Belgium rises up and takes out Lyon, I think the beers said they weren't a pushover and they proved it, well done boys.

The Sting rays exploited the Limerick secondary with 3 long pass plays and held up their offense enough to win.

the Lions got turn overs and broke tackles as they beat The Wildcats. The Lions shut down the pass and passed well themselves. (as I said nice game)

Belgrades defense shut down the Warriors in the second half........Nice job Bulldogs.

Sweden out gains PSL by 166.5 yards on the ground.......actually its worse than that as The Knuckledusters can only manage 7 yards on 7 rushes.

so lets see that puts me at 5 and 3 on the week.......24 and 8 on the season.
Dart takes it on the chin with a miserable 1 and 7......dropping him to a 13 and 19 mark on the season.
