GG in the Tourney Sonoma. I don’t know what the right offensive scheme is against y’all, but it obviously isn’t the unmitigated disaster that I rolled out against you yesterday!

Sorry I’m late on this!

Got these in JUST in the nick of time before the Comet League first round begins.

Top Tier:

1. Sonoma County Crushers - Record: 16-0 - Should be in their own Tier. Proven to be a their own planet, and I just don’t see a challenge to them in getting the Gold Trophy. Their biggest challenge won’t even be their League Championship game, it’ll be their Conference Championship game where there is the most risk….but even then I don’t know that anyone has anything.

2. Hulk Smash - Record: 15-1 - Close to Sonoma County, and I’m eager to see the Tourney Championship between these two. Their one loss was, in my opinion, a little flukey in terms of the Red Hots just being a team they didn’t scout well perhaps…they avenged that loss later on convincingly so I rest my case there. The Hulk Smash rushing attack is a thing to behold.

3. Charming SOA - Record 15-1 - Lost by 1 to Hulk, was never truly challenged otherwise. Charming’s true strength is in its defense. Tourney game against Key Largo should be telling.

4. Key Largo Eskimos - Record 13-3 - Key Largo jumps a Tier from previous rankings. Lost both Sonoma games, but the first one was a one score game. The loss to Louisa was a bit of a surprise, but they avenged that decisively down the stretch. I like them to give Sonoma a real test in the Dasher playoffs.

Solid Tier

5. Louisa Bears - Record 12-4 - Louisa is a curious case. They split with Key Largo, quality win against Huntsville, but the loss to Wu Dang affected their ranking here. If I were willing to put 5 teams in the Top Tier they’d be there but I also looked at what I predict in the Playoffs and I just don’t see it. Their playoff game vs Key Largo will be must-see Tv though imo.

6. Yellowstone Ranchers - Record 12-4 - Yellowstone has really come alive this season and deserves some credit. While there is quite a gap between them and the teams above them, I can tell you for sure that you take them lightly at your own peril. I was impressed with their decisive win against Crystal Lake. I’d love to see them in the Tourney and see if they stack up against the likes of Louisa, Wu Dang, Huntsville, etc.

7. Huntsville Soulstealers - Record 13-3 - Huntsville is strong, but lost to all 3 top teams in the other Dasher conference…a couple of them were close however. I don’t know if winning their Conf Championship is a given, I think they’ll have a tough one against Wu Dang.

8. Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy - Record 12-4 - I feel like Wu Dang proved me a little wrong. They’ve put together a solid season and I think they’re starting to come alive. Roc is starting to pay attention I think!

Average Tier

9. Crystal Lake Purple Snakes - Record 11-5 - Crystal Lake tends to be a curious case for me as well. They split their season series with the Red Hots, which made some sense. I was a little surprised with their loss to Yellowstone, but I’m wondering if that was them underestimating the Ranchers a little?

10. Nashville Red Hots - Record 13-3 - I think the Red Hots’ chickens have come home to roost and the vulnerabilities get more exposed as other teams’ builds have caught up and surpassed this roster. I could tell pretty early in Rookie that the Red Hots were built for short term success and that’s proven true, and I think the clock has run out.

11. Las Spezia Wolverines - Record 9-7 - Las Spezia will continue to come alive as their slow building starts to show its gains, but for now they will still struggle against the teams above them. That being said, while they lost both games against the Ranchers, neither contest was a beating, and I think the playoff game will be close. Heck, depending on the sim, I don’t think those who are close observers would be shocked to see an upset win there.

12. Virginia Flames - Record 8-8 - Not trying to be a dock about it, but Virginia is here because I wanted 4 teams in each Tier. And they’re here also because after losing to Humbolt by 50 in their first matchup, Virginia turned it around and avenged that loss, and I was impressed with that. Wu Dang will handle Virginia easily in the playoff…but a step has been taken in the right direction.

PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS:

This is a silly exercise, but sure let’s try it. Don’t roast me if I look a fool afterward.

Dasher League:

Sonoma vs. San Jose: Not much to even write. Easy win for Sonoma. 87-0
Key Largo vs. Louisa: Ok this is harder. They split their season series, but Key Largo won much more decisively in their second matchup and I just like Key Largo more here overall. Kay Largo wins 24-21 - IN OT!
Huntsville vs. Humbolt County: Huntsville comes out on top 67-3
Wu Dang vs. Virginia: No sweat for Wu Dang as they beat Virginia 78-10

2nd Round:

Sonoma vs. Key Largo: I like a closer game here. But Sonoma is still just too much. Sonoma wins 29-24
Huntsville vs. Wu Dang: I’m going with the “upset” here and I’m taking Wu Dang 33-27

Championship:

Sonoma vs. Wu Dang: Sonoma gets their 2nd trophy in as many years, beating Wu Dang 38-14

Comet League:

Hulk Smash vs. Jajce: No sweat here for Hulk, 92-0
Crystal Lake vs. Nashville: I think Crystal Lake handles business for the “upset” and wins 38-16
Charming vs. New Hampshire: Easy day for Charming, winning 104-0
Yellowstone vs. Las Spezia: This will be close, but I give the home field edge to Yellowstone 17-16

2nd Round:

Hulk Smash vs. Crystal Lake: I don’t think I see a close game here. Hulk wins 42-18
Charming vs. Yellowstone: A rematch of S111’s Conference Championship, but a closer result. I see Charming winning 35-17

Championship:

Hulk vs. Charming: Heck of a game when they played in the regular season. As the owner of Charming I’d love to be a homer, but I will lay out a prediction that I hope I can prove wrong - Hulk wins a close game 21-18.

GG in the Tourney Key Largo. That was stressful. We had one pretty good offensive possession (where some things certainly went our way that were “yikes” kind of close) that turned out to be the difference. A truly defensive game. All I could say was “whew”
