Maybe it's just me, but it may have something to do with tags.

I've noticed that when you get a tag wrong now, it's super - SUPER bad. Any time a run tag is on and a pass is called - even with 90+ aware CBs are stones looking in the backfield as the WR runs by - any time a pass tag is on and an outside run is called it's guaranteed 10+

Like, I've gotten better results overall removing tags entirely - which is bad considering I'm unboosted and balanced in build, tags should be my lifeforce- but even a single wrong call with my guys and it's basically a TD handed to the opponent no matter how good/bad their builds are.

this is true, the penalty for getting a tag wrong was increased. So don't disagree with you at all. I think getting a tag correct was slightly weakened as well, so even if you tag correctly a dominate guy might still get you.

I will always be in the camp of tags are overrated. It should be %90 about builds and play calling.

Power back? Late game you need to add brick wall unless you maxed power tackling with 40ish grip. 4th quartile T tech and 2nd-3rd quartile grip suffice if you don't go with a tough guy build.

Elusive? high ass pursuit and high balance helps. Footwork to cover scats.
Speed? Quickness is supposed to get them before they can get off if at all. If they are even they leavin.
Miss the dive? Grip if you are making contact and just not grabbing them. Diving if you aren't touching shit on dives.
Open field skates? Footwork and quickness.

Stamina obviously affects all of these.

would it be possible to have the defensive plays have player to key in on, like how the QB does for the routes?

make it a bit more realistic... the defense is handicapped in that manner imho.

also if you want parody the we would all start off with the same build templates, (like the perfect ones the top tier guys have figured out and passed around among themselves) or shut up, remake your guys and take the beat downs via play calling instead.. lol!

Yeah its not really builds separating top from middle, thats play-calling and tactics. Builds separate top from bottom and elite from top.

The game isn’t really all that intuitive. At some point, the higher star teams will consistently dominate over those without the same caliber of talent - even if you waste cap flexibility on a superstar offensive line. The “elite” have the right superstars in the right places, and likely with the right builds to fit their scheme. Probably not necessary to succeed, but I’m sure it helps move the needle quite a bit.

Also, not everyone receives the same “perks” imo. I don’t think teams perform the same on a game by game basis - even the dominant teams. I’ve noticed if you’re hot, you are on mfin fire. If your team is cold? Might as well dial it in.

Think this is consistent across the board. Been looking at the top teams in Pro lately and almost everyone has at least one spanking. Scout is extremely overhyped to me considering the numbers show everyone is generally running the same thing on a game by game basis (that fits their scheme of course).

This team doesn't have superstars. GE's HAL9000 is also competitive as an all CPU team. Skill points help but they are less important than other aspects of the game. Just focus on being the best student of the game you can be

Even in that same tier the current #1 team is mostly unboosted with no stars
