I wanted you to be able to chase your own dreams with that team since you made most of the builds, this was meant to just be a way of opining on what kind of team I'd think would be best and it turned into more I guess.

And as for run stuffing/pass rushing DTs, I like em balanced - though they are more support in the pass rush, DEs and LBs should be the ones getting home.


I've always found that good DT's are the reason sacks happen. Even if they're not getting home themselves, by breaking a block early before blitzews the Oline will prioritize the DT.

In all seriousness, our starting DTs are pass rushers as well. In our previous seasons we had run stop DTs and it really limited the playbook - being forced to blitz every play to get to the QB made us predictable and exploitable, but with pass rush DTs we could drop back extra defenders and still know the QB will be under pressure even with 3 or 4 rushers. Even without the DTs, DEs on their own do generate a lot of pressure, but DTs are, imo, much more important because they have a more direct path to the QB and they start their blocking interactions sooner, meaning that when they win they immediately draw a double team and free up the DEs, as well as the other DT, like Adder said. If the OT is the one to take over when the G gets beat, sometimes the DE doesn't even have to win a block at all.

In the end, run stop pressure results in fewer yardage gained from inside runs, but pass rush pressure leads to incomplete passes, shorter checkdown passes, sacks, and turnovers in the form of sack fumbles and interceptions. Teams also generally pass far more than they run inside, so...

That's precisely what I mean by support, they are the distraction causing chaos on the inside.

First Strike? I'm already starting to theory craft the defensive line packages from that right now.

No...there is a relatively new SA...Line Crasher. It can only be used by LBs.

Powered By: Pass Rush Power
Activation Condition: Blitzing QB at a high speed.
While Active: Nearby blockers are knocked off balance when this player is BLOCKED.

Helps pancake all surrounding blockers. Also, this makes blitzing a LB up the middle useful again.

That's pretty interesting, It can make ILB's useful on run blitzes too. Puts them in position to help if it's not a run.
