That's because he has low pass power. My Sophomore running QB with 18 pass power does the same thing. https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/789253/1372860
To me it's like kicks.
51 yard kick - https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/791570/1877772
76 yard kick - https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/791570/1878088
In the upper tiers you can't get away with 18 pass power, but once you add any you basically kill your pass arc. Passing is really in a good place right now, outside of this dynamic.

I think the idea is that having increased pass power shouldn't hurt your QB's ability to loft/arc some passes- It just means he should be able to loft/arc it further.

I think pass awareness should play a role. If he has high pass power, then yeah he has the ability to throw long, arcing passes. But if he has low pass awareness, he might throw a dart. Has there never been a QB with high power who threw a long, arching pass? Once they hit a certain pass power, is it always a dart?

Old School replays:
Saul Silver. S9 with 50 Pass Power. This is a 33 yard Pass to the sideline. Receiver jumps for it. At Tick 56, it's at the midway point (about the 20yard line), you can see the ball and shadow and the distance between them. Total flight time 30 ticks.
Belgarath. S11 with 69 Pass Power. This is a 35 yard Pass to the sideline. Receiver doesn't jump. At Tick 67, which seems to be the half way point, you can see the ball and shadow distance. Total flight time 25 ticks.
There's more ball flight with the lower Pass Power QB. Less ticks with the stronger arm, but seems to lead to more LB INTs with Zone D these days.
Here's a 10yd (13yd Pass) on TE Drive in S11 from Belgarath to Belgarion. https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/185023/85718?player_id=97220 13 yards in 13 Ticks. Low Ball flight. Today, with Zone LBs that could be an INT.
But it's not the same game 40 seasons later either.

Yeh, seems so. Even on long passes there's not much arc.
https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/782525/738990
The QB above has 81 pass power, now compare how much arc the 18 pass power QB has on the same play.

QB tactics would be great too, the same way RBs can go from Elusive to Normal to Power. Just maybe go Loft to Normal to Bullet, but again don't know if that's possible.

This is my opinion too.
Knowing when to throw with power and when to float one over the top is a skill in it's own right, just because a QB has an arm like a cannon doesn't mean he always blasts it at full-strength. I'd suggest that higher Pass Awareness would give a QB better judgement on how to throw the pass depending on the position of the receivers/defenders, then obviously things like Pass Power, Tech & Acc will determine how successful he is at it.

still all depends on how the code is written, generally if you write in new code you break 56 other strands of code breaking everything. Its all numbers thus the suggestion if you want to be a lofter change your setting, want to bullet use that setting, if you want your stuff random then pick the middle. IF the lob is truly only related to throw power then it's probably the only way to do it without recoding everything there is about throwing in the passing game. You also then more than likely have to recode the reads which then changes equations.

Not if the code was architected properly. If they extracted common code for reusability, have modules (classes/services/methods/etc..) that perform specific functions, etc... the code should not break if they add a feature. Code mostly breaks when a module tries to do too many things for too many consumers. Then when implementing/updating code inside that module for feature A, you can break feature B if both feature A and B are consuming that module.
Of course, I have no idea about this code base and what it is even written in.

It'd be a nice change to see passes be capable of traveling over 10 yards because the QB can choose to lead a receiver, but this is a classic be careful what you wish for situation.
I'd be ok with this on higher vert players, but you shouldn't be penalized for having power:
https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/791668/1913833?player_id=318201
What we see and what happens behind the scenes is different. Have to imagine this would be tough to code. An SA proccing off pass power and stunning awareness or something may be a quicker band-aid.
Yeah like this play the ball should literally be in the endzone:

1st play, looks like the receiving play changed direction as he threw (sometimes this happens in game otherwise just a bad throw) I dont know what his vert is but yeah i think a good jumping lb nabs that ball. You cant throw a lob on that either though without rewarding the guy over the top.
On the final play, if he lead on that particular route the ball probably goes out of bounds or the receiver gets lead out of bounds. i dont have much of an issue with that apart from that receiver could use more physicals maybe? With that said there are hundreds of deep balls we would like to see leading receivers or at least not being picked off 4 yards behind him.

Yup. And that's the exact problem with implementation.

This is the kind of pass I wish my 81 pass power QB could throw https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/792142/1998854
Both the MLB, and CB5 would have a good chance at PD/Int if he had passed it. The 18 pass power QB drops it right in
