With you, Go saints. How in the world did they not tackle him. I thought saints had the game.

I think the DB had money riding on the Vikings. That is the only explanation. I mean shit, game was over if he makes the tackle but he tried to get a big hit for some stupid reason...

Yeah....that was fucking ridiculous. All the DB had to do was let him catch it and tackle him. Instead he goes for the big hit....yeah, I'm a big Saints fan.

I'm a Panthers fan so I'd love to take a crap on a Saints player but there were a few things going on there.

#1 there was time on the clock, and it was near the sideline. If Diggs catches the ball and gets out of bounds you lose to a FG.

#2 Williams read the pass incoming and realized he would get there after the ball, so he has to either: A. Knock the ball out of Diggs hands (Diggs was turning his back to Williams on the approach so he had to try and lay into him to knock it loose instead of going for a punch/swat) or B. Stop diggs momentum toward the sideline to prevent him from getting out of bounds.

So he went to prevent the sideline action, and took his eyes off the ball to judge where Diggs would end up so he could lay a big hit. But Diggs had to jump to catch the ball and Williams had already committed to the hit and went flying into the emtpy space where diggs would have been had the pass been to the sideline as intended on that play.

Williams just got ahead of himself selling out to stop the FG, if the ball would have been on target he probably would have popped it out of diggs hands or at least smashed him hard enough from the outside shoulder to prevent him from getting out of bounds. He had probably been told to protect sidelines at all costs while keeping everything in front of him - a REAL tall order to put on a guy.

Can we just give some love to the Vikings for not giving up and executing on that last play!

It was a beautiful thing. I've loved Diggs for a while, always seems to find the action.

Eh, I think anyone who has actually played the game understand what happens there. Sucks about the events that actually played out. But I certainly understand what he was going for. (you upend him or get the tackle in bounds, nothing is left to chance...unless you completely whiff...and...take out your own teammate...) I think anyone can replay in their mind a million different things they would have done. Truth is the entire play concept drawn up was really badly designed. Nobody knows what the real idea behind #26 was standing in the right side flats. Seems random and useless in the play. Only 2 deep safeties against what was a needed at least 20 yards for the deepest of FG's in this guys career.

I would love for this to happen. I absolutely hate the pats and would root for any team playing against them. I still cant believe they traded Brady’s replacement so close to the end of his carreer. Love it though. Its pretty rare they make a mistake so ill take it. Wouldn’t mind seeing Jags Vikings in the super bowl. Hell of a story line. Jags from worst to first versus first hometown Super Bowl team. Pretty sure no one would have guessed those 2 teams would be playing in AFC and NFC championship games much less the super bowl.

I think that this happened: Saints uses timeout, coaches says, "Guys, we have this game, just do some things: 1-cover the sideline, 2-don't let they go out of bounds, 3-dont go for the interception or agressive deflection, let them catch and tackle, 4-DON'T MAKE AN INTERFERENCE, otherwise the clock stops and they get one more play.

So the rookie was scared as fuck, he saw the WR with space, he rushed towards him, but realized he was there too early, he couldn't get to the ball, and if he touched the receiver it would be an interference, then in desperation he just ducked.

The best explanation I seen was that Williams was pushed from behind by Mantei Tao's GF.
