And come on Deevee. Outside of power hb what advice have you pumped to GE? And he hasn't even taken the best advice thrown his way in several seasons. Get a superstar hb.

Nothing wrong with wanting to make things work that people say will never work. Playing with build concepts and trying different things to make them work is what makes the game remain viable to me. I could just roll out flavor of the month/year builds and steamroll but I prefer to mix things up when I can. I obviously avoid doing things that result in running plays that simply do not cut it though.

So I'll be honest. I've been playing actively/consistently since GLB season 1, day 10. I don't participate on the forums. All of my players across both GLB1 and GLB2 are on CPU teams. Why?
1) Just not that much time to get involved in forums nowadays
2) Forumites seem VERY clique-y to me. Basically, you will never get to a World League team unless you're active on the forums or know someone who is, or if you have the ideal build (see below)
3) Everyone seems to go by specific builds. Gaming in general has started going towards doing what's best, even if you're just copying whoever came up with it first. This is a huge turnoff for me not just with GLB, but gaming in general. Why am I paying money just to have a clone of a build that so many others are using?
The enjoyment in playing GLB for me is developing players by not using guides or having success because of gimmicky schemes. I like to do my own thing and see how it performs in relatively balanced gameplay. Playbooks are bland and mixed in CPU leagues, so in a way, everyone is closer to being equal to each other.
The most excitement I got from GLB recently was PaulM doing Senior League news updates. Unfortunately he has mostly stopped updating that thread, so my interest will probably start fading again. I'll still play, I'll still try wacky builds and hope for success. That's all that's left for me.

Thanks for the honest and insightful post Pinn. I see that with a lot of agents who don't post. It's understandable but what I don't get is how is the spam/cookiecutter/copycat strategy used in this game any different than any other game made ever? Maybe it is more evident in this game but there will always be someone who finds a way to score higher or win faster and then people will continue to use that strategy. I enjoy the challenge of finding better ways to innovate. There is still a lot to learn about GLB2.

New about a month more or less, am player on coaches college than made the jump and bought a rookie team.Have struggled with it staffing wise/ player wise. Consider myself active in rookie area posting for help needed with little to no response with only 500 active players it is tough to get help.

That's the reason I've stopped "gaming" really. Too many people doing the same exact thing to the point where I got bored. Like, they watch people on youtube playing video games. I cannot explain the hatred I have of that. Why the FUCK are you watching someone play a video game, when you have the video game and are able to play it yourself? I'll also readily admit that I suck at the actual physical/mental abilities that go into gaming (timing/reactions/etc). It's weird, when I was a kid I was a HUGE gamer. Smoked all my friends on N64 and everything. Now there's too much of a stigma against newbs and people who are only looking for fun gaming that the majority of online/competitive gaming has turned me off completely. So I look at smaller communities like GLB or Madden PC gaming (even though the latter is just about gone) where there's often less of that "meta gamer" mentality.
I'm not even sure where I'm going with all this. I guess it's more of a rant of why I've gone from absolutely loving video games to disliking them over the past 20 years. Thanks for your response, either way.

Do like I do. Take unconvientional builds/gameplans and beat Legend agents, rise to the top, talk major trash about how you beat them with non-meta builds/gameplans and then the fun starts as you sit back and listen to them cry...

Ive been playing since something like season 3 of GLB1. I haven't been over there in years this game is much more fun to me. When I first started here I tried to recruit guys for the team, and there weren't many people with builds good enough to compete and the ones who were didn't stick around for the life of the team. Since then my brother and I have created most of my players, and we are competitive now. The hardest thing to find are good coordinators who don't already have multiple teams, and are willing to take on another. I always read the forums but don't post much in them because our league forum is pretty dead most of the time......might change next season in vet it seems pretty active there.

this i dont agree with. I have only recently come back to the game and with some effort to communicate with all the guys that play this game it has been simply awesome. Every person has been kind and supportive(except GE) and i really appreciate all the support they have shown me.

What he is describing is the GLB1 forums from 2008-2013. Ever since then there hasn't been near as much cliqueiness. Now the forums are full of hardcore GLBers who just want to see new blood come into the game. We are always willing to help.
