Dude your teams aren't competitive and you can't even build good dots for what you focus on since like 6 seasons, coming from you it's pretty funny honestly.

And I'm experimenting with a few things. When I reset after vet, I will have some answers and build a great team.

That's because I'm not making cookie cutter builds and schemes like everybody else.

Xars has all his players builds open and he runs the same plays every game. Just follow those builds and you will have a top 10 team. Or go read the forums.

My point is there are plenty of resources available to field a competitive team.

But, thats not the point. When someone loads up the game for teh first time they arent goiing to go read every forum in depth. You have to get into the game a bit before you dedicate that sort of time. Right now we dont have a way to get engaged which is why i was wondering if its possible to have them auto check into a new forum when they sign up or come back from an inactive state. I think this game drwws plenty of new interest but if we just beat the noob into oblivian without them knowing how to find help they just quit. Most players that sign up are expecting a football sim and 6 play playbooks just areent what they are looking for i would assume. Maybe have them fill out a survey for flex after their second or 3rd login

When I first found out about this game, I was like "oh crap...an MMORPG Football game! I am going to read up and find out how to build good players, what the skills do, etc.. and be the best player in GLB history!"

Those are the type of agents that play this game and stick around. If someone joins and doesn't have the passion to seek out advice or find out on their own how to build solid players and/or teams, those agents will not stick around even if you shove knowledge down their throats.

Ultimately it is up to the new agents to dedicate time and have the passion to become a great agent and stick around for multiple seasons.

Inherent flaw in all PvP games. Experienced players "pwn noobs".

If computer controlled teams and players were better, there could be a tier system of agent experience along side of the current one of player age.

Once agents got the hang of the game and could relably beat a competent CPU opponent, then they could step out into the PvP side.

To keep things fresh for vets, there could be an entire playbook library for the game, and every season plays could be added and removed from the active list.

There's tons of things that could be done to improve the game, but WG doesn't think in those terms.

They'd rather reinvent the wheel with a new game, get the income boom, and then move on to the next project.

I understand in advance the amount of crap talking and instant hate messages this may bring in but just some food for thought.

Are we as agents, ruining this game?

Football is a game of sportsmanship, rivalry and fun. When players use PED's they are ridiculed across the board for attempting to exploit the system or some may say cheat. So this may make you think, what is he getting at?

How many teams out there have the same 5 agents coordinating the teams or at least on the coaching roster? I know i used to do it and if someone asks you to join the ranks of helping them coach it can sometimes be tough to say no. Now of those 5 agents coaching on this team how many of them own a different team with those same 5 agents coaching?

With the current setup where we all join each others teams we are never going to get that real hard core rivalry that really gets teams fired up to play throughout an entire season. How are we going to do this if the same group of the best agents are on the same teams? It stings a lot less if you were on the staff of the winning team. Then you have the agents who say, well i dont actually participate on that team. Well, why are you on it then? Maybe we as agents need to use our self discipline to build the rivalries up from scratch and get some competitive juices flowing again.

We have to understand that when it comes to coding and programming there may actually be some limitations in the game as well. Cdog does what he can to fix many of the things we as users find wrong but he is still fighting an uphill battle. We as agents have found ways to take advantage of any broken aspect of this game and by doing so we as agents have ruined this game. We make it impossible for the new players to even have a chance, and if you are new and get destroyed why would you keep playing? Everybody gets so concerned with winning at any cost you destroy any integerity or sportsmanship the game is supposed to have. i can tell you this, for Bort, Cdog, and the rest this is a business, unfortunately if you arent growing the business then you are relying solely on your current clientel to carry you. As we've seen this season we've lost a couple of the most popular agents and we cant allow that to happen. Bort has actually made some really good changes the last couple of seasons which is great for all of us to see and shows they care about the game. Now the question is do we?

We are responsible for helping this game grow and I'm not talking about the word of mouth advertising only that was mentioned in another forum. We all should really consider just breaking down and try to play the game with some integrity and enjoy the game as a football sim not if i can exploit the game more than the other guy. Whereas these broken plays and such can be controlled to an extent the new guys wont know how and will get completely destroyed. It would have to be a community effort though as if the majority of people do it and a handful dont its not going to work.

Also perhaps there is a way corndog or bort can program a weekly announcement of new members so we as a community can reach out and help them out. It will get them good people to learn from and help guide them through the game. That is all. Happy 4th!

wtf, im not reading all of that.

Kind of an ironic response considering what the post is about.

Aw I feel left out of that story now lol.

To the actual subject, I've felt some of the things mentioned in this thread along the way. I think I've gotten to know a few more people around here now and have a small network. But started off going it myself last season and brought in Rob (who I had worked with before my deployment break) and Jag to just help me get things in order on the team. Things got better quick and this season reached out for agents instead of going it alone. So I thank those guys who are willing to jump onto yet another squad to help get things straight.

<3 you. Lol

It really isn't hard to build a competitive team. Just read the forums for advice on builds, tactics and playbooks.

Hell I run a zone defense and all run offense but I can tell you the best passing plays and man defense plays. I can even tell you how to build players for those schemes.

If noobs are really interested and motivated to play, they will find info on how to be competitive.

Dude when I joined I tried to look at the Faqs and build guides. I could never find what I was looking for. (Attributes > Skills) There is nothing concrete. There is no one stop source for information which means things are extremely cluttered.

Yeah its there for the hardcore nuts like me to go find, but the casual player that isnt hooked yet doesnt want to go through all that work finding them, hell we just lobbied to have good guides stickied before that you had to not only hunt through the forum which has no search function, but decipher between the good guides(that Rob. assembled for us) and the crap(any advice from GE).

Look through all the threads in the FAQ forum. There are boat loads of build and play discussions.

If you are looking for info from the developers, keep looking cause they will not divulge that information.

I think a search function would help tremendously.

IMO the plays aren't the problem it's the tactics.

I remember there being a thread written that finally explained how the tactics work, and the tactics are not intuitive...

For example, if you have zeroes set for an entire row that means that you have an equal chance of running those types of plays, but if you leave it blank it won't run that type of play at all. That's not really intuitive. Only the hardcore tactician will keep playing around and using flex for scrimmages to figure it out. The casual / new player will get frustrated when the plays they pick don't get get called, and they get burned by teams with experienced coordinators beating them by 56+ points.
