Yeah I thought holding ASU to 260ish yards was good enough to have a chance to win..but the Stoners just have no semblance of an offense right now. I had to stop watching the games it's so bad. Playing a good defense just makes it worse obviously.

Balanced offenses are way more difficult to succeed with. You can't build your OL to only run because then you get sacked a ton when you try to pass. You can't build your OL to only pass because then you can only run against teams that leave the box super light and have below average DL builds. You can't build your OL to do both because then they don't have enough skills in either category and they just end up sucking all around.
Not just the OL though. In Rookie & Soph and part of Seasoned, the only real way to move the ball effectively on the ground is with tosses and pitches, and in those cases you need your TEs and WRs to be able to block really well. Blocking skills aren't worthwhile investments for receiving TEs and WRs. It's a lose-lose-lose-lose-lose situation.

I have had quite a bit of success building balanced offenses. My advice would be to build your OL mainly for run blocking and select passes that get off before the pressure gets there. Expanding on the pitch/toss package, 4wrr inside runs are usually a safe bet early on, and other runs can be used depending on the defenses your opponents run. Watch sims or use GLB2 scout to figure out which plays work against them. Balanced offenses certainly can be effective though and arent always a recipe for losing.

You had your success building balanced offenses before the massive OL nerf last season. That completely killed any hope of having a successful balanced offense imo. You've got to dedicate your OL builds one way or another if you want any hope of success. Before the nerf, you could get a non-S* up to 100 RBT and 80 RBP without much trouble - now, you can't even get a S* to that point without considerable sacrifices in other areas.
4WR inside runs only work against people that straight up don't try. It's as simple as 5-2 man base, honestly. The man advantage wayyyy out-weighs the fact that the LBers are looking to cover someone at the snap most of the time. 7 vs 6, plus safety help if necessary. It's kind of the same way that ASU's offense only usually works against people that don't gameplan or don't know how to stop it. It's all gimmicks at this point.

I was a bit shocked that we beat ASU. Then I saw that you guys just were running nonstop. But nonetheless close game. 6-3 is one of the grittiest battles between defenses.

aye, you have.... we're a zone D and zone D's generally do very well against run teams. Barakas gets all the credit for this game. GG ASU!

GG ASU, it took awhile for you to wear my defense down, but once you did you had the upper hand. I'm glad football is only 4 quarters long and not 5.

GG Storm... you think next time you can let us have a 2nd and very short or a 3rd and very shot instead of destroying it every time?

I'm in Pro with a shitton of CPUs and then rook/soph as an all-running team is absolutely insufferable. No matter what we do, there's literally no way to put points up against teams that call the right defenses.

I feel ya. Seems like GLB quality/turnover goes in waves. One season is deep with talent that stick together more than usual. The next has a lot of turnover, the one after doesn't, etc. My current Vet league (Diamond) is almost the same as it was when I joined it in Seasoned. This batch of teams in Sophomore feels like one that's going to stick around and grow together.
