I want to assess the effect of the this "outside run containment" fix. Excuse me for not knowing the GLB terminology. I don't frequent the forums but I have been playing regularly for the pass 7 years maybe. I am noticing weird inconsistent game play now with zone coverage LBs doing "their own thing" when the ball is snapped.
In this play below the defense is in 5-2 Cat Blitz ZOne which places one LBs in a medium weak third zone, and another in medium center third zone coverage. The offense runs a HB Sweep Strong and the MLB reacts to the play in under a seconds time while the LOLB act like he is blind and continues to drop back into zone coverage for about 2 seconds while the play is developing! Furthermore the MLB has to cross in front of the LOLB in order to pursuit the runner to the left but the LOLB STILL cannot tell which way the play is developing so he continues to back petal until the play is 50% complete. Look at this LB play in Cat Blitz Zone and tell me why the two LB react so differently?
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/183558/3111875MLB Blitz Awareness 50, Pursuit 71, Zone Awareness 56, Snap reaction 45.
LOLB Blitz Awareness 60, Pursuit 85, Zone Awareness 18, Snap Reaction 40.
Why are these LBs responding to this play so differently? They are both in ZOne and the one with LOWER Zone Awareness responds better than his counterpart. There seems to be a huge discrepancy between what these two LBs see on the field. The one with MORE ZOne Awareness plays worst in the zone.
Am I missing something?
