What we want is a god damn response from Corndog about this bullshit promise he made.

Didn't he respond 4 or 5 seasons ago and say they determined it wasn't a necessary addition? I could be wrong (and don't have the patience to go digging through threads looking for the quote) but I seem to remember seeing that.

Here are the admin quotes I could find regarding tournaments. I only looked in threads with Tournament in the title, excluding the S1 and S2 Tournaments of Champions.

Not currently, but we plan on adding them.

Probably next season.

I was hoping to have them done and ready for this season, but this past offseason was pretty rocky and the ship has kind of already sailed for the season on that front.

That comment was made over a year ago

Tournaments would be sort of neat I guess but what we really want is more plays both offensively and defensively. I think once tournaments get into the game they will lose their aura real quick as most people won't really get into them.

Yup. I don't want to bother gameplanning for a tournament. I like off-days as is, it's a relaxing game planning session.

Also fixing the brand new plays so they actually do what they're supposed to. That'd be nice.

I think tournaments would be awesome. Rookie has 72 teams. Have a double elimination tournament. Figure out how many games are needed for a team to play all the way to the finals (lets say 10 games) and then subtract that from 16 because that is how many "weeks" are in a season. So you have 16 possible tournament days and we only need 10 tournament days to complete the tournament. So for the first 6 "weeks", there are no tournament days. Use those "weeks" to rank each team from the ladder and league results and then on week 7, start the tournament with the appropriate seeding.

It really wouldn't be that hard to implement. They do not need to give SPs for each tournament game so no change there. Leave the SP gains as they are where a player would gain them after a regular season and ladder game but not tournament game. That way teams that fall out of the tournament just wouldn't play a game on tournament day. The tournament would just be for a trophy and bragging rights. At least we know the tournament will end with two top teams FROM THE SAME TIER playing each other for a trophy.

Tournaments wouldn't have anything to do with the ladder or ranking. 72 teams wouldn't sign up for them either. Bragging rights wouldn't be on the line either because they would be joke games in comparison to the ladder and your league. Nobody ever remembers the winners of the GLB1 season long tournaments. Why? Because they don't matter.

The one bright spot it would give though is Seasoned/Journeyman teams the ability to face each other during the season.

Sure they would. Use the first few games of the season to get a seeding for each team.

They would be automatically put into the tournament. They don't have to game plan if they don't want to. Just lose the game and you are out.

I think it is really a question of "how long would it take to program?"

Can the GLB1 code be used?

If there was a semi simple interface where you could choose:

- 4 team round robin
- 8 team single elim
- 16 team single elim
- etc

if it didn't take that long -- I think it would be really fun.

If it takes a long time -- and means we get no new plays and no new tweaks this offseason -- then I'm sure we would all pass.

I'd love to hear: How much time is Corndog really being instructed to spend on GLB2 these days? 10% of his time? 5%?

The new plays were very cool last offseason. How long did that take? Weeks? Days? Hours?

No they absolutely wouldn't because not all teams want them.

No they wouldn't because not everyone wants to be in them.

Just put them in. If they lose, they are out. No big deal. But I'm sure alot of teams would want to win.
