I don't really like that GL has been uttered pretty much useless now.

Useless seems pretty harsh. It most definitely still has its short yardage use with the offtackle runs.

Sucks there is 2 CPU teams. Hopefully some of those CPU's fill up or it may just be us and Los Angeles battling it out. Though I am pretty sure Denver is trying to put together a team.

I'm not sure, there's some decent plays on D that can limit that. Only problem with those plays is they were susceptible to outside runs.

I dunno Off tackle weak dominates most of the 5-2 formation so that isn't the greatest threat. The engage 8 plays aren't all that great against GL. The general plays I think that most people think are great against GL all together will result in some long runs against good rushing superstar teams because blitzers will get eaten up and superstars will come out of the pile. The people that are going to be truly mad about this change are people who just weren't very good outside of using sweep or rollout to win a couple big plays a game without really actually gameplanning. I think teams like the Stunners will be just fine because they plan very well. Also dual rush/pass QB's will be far more viable now. Either way GL was never meant to be what people have been using it as. I think rookie is much better off without those plays as it becomes much more a gameplanning thing rather than using rollout to dominate people left and right. The changes were good. Next season I hope we can give more diamond offense plays.

Agree. There needs to be SOME kind of outside running threat out of GL.

There is. Off tackle and FB sweep. GL is a short yardage formation. Not meant to be 50+ yard runs without a fight.

I agree with rookie being better off without it but we'll just have to see how it pans out. I only see GL being used well....near the GL which i guess means it'll work as originally intended.

So far I see GL as being still a well used formation throughout a drive. It won't be the homerun hitting formation people are used to but it most certainly isn't dead that I can see.

Like I said before though it would be great to revert the blocking changes a bit after this change though. GL formation is almost entirely what set up that change.

One thing I don't like is there's been tweaks/nerfs to the run game the past two seasons now but nothing has been done negatively for the passing game in quite a while.

I feel like negatives to the passing game are a wrong move. Yes passing defense needs some improvements but I think we need to revisit the entire pass game all together. The screens are annoyingly bad. We need a way to stop the drops and falls so often on these screens. But we also need a way to formulate the defense where they aren't blasted by that as well. Power Runners shouldn't be higher fumble rates than regular WR's because they have the ability to carry people. That is ridiculous. I feel like I get double screwed on my team because my WR is able to carry a guy for 10 yards but has a great rate of fumbling doing that. But he also is far less efficient than the average WR who catches the ball and isn't break tackle. But that could all be changed through not falling as much on catches. Maybe guys who can't break tackles fumble more often that way. At the same time interceptions and deflections could be tweaked up a bit since there would be much less falling down. Would be great all around imo.
It is sad to me we had to go this many seasons tweaking the running game around GL. Now that the 2 biggest problems have been eliminated from use, it makes a lot of the changes seem silly. Hopefully we can see this in the upcoming season that rushing is in a nice place and we can stop the big blocking changes from completely going into effect all together. But the passing game is going to take a bit more thought on the defensive side. Or you are just OP'ing defensive skills for no reason imo. We need to make the whole thing be fluid.

Don't think nerfing the offense is a good thing. We just need to buff the defense some and people have been calling for that for quite a few seasons now.

That is what I mean. Nerfing the skills on offense seems counter productive to doing things and having fun building players. Though I feel like buffing skills defensively is going to fuck with shit too unless you change a lot of the dynamic in the passing game all together. At the end of the day I think all the OC's really want to be able to use the HB/TE/FB screens than they are now. And I think they want to use the crossing routes better than they currently are being used as well. Watching my guy beat a guy across the middle and then fall over is just useless. At the same time defensively people want to be better reaction to runs and screens. Defenders just look lost all together half the time. Same with the short routes and bad power passing QB's. It's annoying. Some work will need to be done but it would be a big help to enjoying the game on both sides.
