I don't have any issues with people bringing up issues or different ways to do these, that's how we improve. There's many ways to skin a cat, as they say.
I actually liked Rob's suggestion, and since it's all formula based all I need to do is figure out how I get it to do what it is I need it to do. Which actually won't be as bad as he made it sound
. I'll just need to mess around with some of the data a bit to get the numbers to where they seem logical. I'm a numbers guy, I'll figure it out NP.
Mine right now is not that complicated, but so long as all I have to do is plug in numbers like run yards gained, pass yards allowed, etc.., I'm fine with it. his suggestion actually fixes an issue I was having with teams that don't pass (like mine) taking a small hit, because they have 0 pass yards, and thus ranked poorly in that category.
Rookie to Sophomore is a different kind of animal, since I know of at least a half dozen teams that have completely flipped their strategy. Generally going from all run to all pass. To me that makes their rank, if they had one, useless. (lolStobie) Also some builds work in Rookie, that don't work in sophomore and beyond. I take into account ladder rank from the previous season, but it's weight is minimal and as the season goes on it becomes less and less a factor. The main thing it does is get teams into the top 25 earlier in this season, getting them harder opponents in ladder matches.
And yes, early statistics will always be skewed slightly based on luck of the draw. I had thought about waiting until after game 7 to post these, but I know people like seeing stats so I didn't.
I do it because I like to, I don't care if people complain. I'm not easily offended anyways...if someone doesn't like it, don't read it - simple as that.
