sort of .. it's a combination of things

1) cost of the game is too much for some of us
2) now that we really have an idea how to build our guys better (we built these guys either as our first dots or our second about 2 weeks after we started) we don't want to start over with a new team or something .. it's just so grim in the lower levels of skill
3) fatigue from our two coordinators - I'm not terribly good and I wind up having to run a lot of scrimmages to get the depth charts working and the plays called and then on top of that the plays that actually work etc. I've spent a staggering amount of time and cost through the past 4 seasons and I think Sieg has as well and now we are stuck with a really mediocre QB (built to thrive in the meta for 3 seasons ago) and a line that isn't particularly good at any one thing etc. and it's a lot of work to make that work out. versatility is its own weapon but it requires a lot of fiddling as you are aware given your team's laydown

4) I have a minor interest in seeing if the offense I've been doing for the cat herders will translate well - but geez it's hard to get excited about it for me especially if we lose have our team to agents quitting and chemistry murders us. If Sieg quits our offense will be cratered by chemistry and then i'm paying to lose for a year and then having to buy another year to be have a shot.

as I'm sure you know we've tanked the crap out of our recent games to set up as much confusion for you as possible (i suspect you did the same in our meaningless last game) - we're going to give it our best shot and you'll get our very best. No telling if we can take andes even if we do get past you but we'll give it a go. you guys will earn anything you get off us

Erkner was one of the original ball control teams. Good defense and a rather bland offense with a bunch of inside runs that gave them good wins, albeit in a lot of low scoring affairs. They've always been stuck in that muddy middle though because of it. I think Peeti can be a good coordinator in GLB2 but Erkner's concept is what it is at this point. They're not an elite team in the vet tier.

Not surprised with the win against them.

I don't think Peeti's been really active of late either. He's certainly not made any forum posts anywhere in weeks that I've seen.

o really?

Ladder this season:

Air Raid - 11-3
Yorick - 4-10

But good job building a defense to troll Air Raid's offense, and get piledriven by modest Veteran rushing attacks

no, the defense that I used against you was built during the long climb up - we've been solid against passing for several seasons - our CBs are permitting 33%ish percentage completion rates and have been for a couple of years. to be completely honest, not trolling or anything, your team was not on our radar for that, we were dealing with LL most of the time back then and trying to stop yukkio. I figured if we could slow them down we'd be ok against the other teams. The trick for Air Raid such as it was was to keep my run-focused SSs off the field and keep my best cover safety in cover 1 where he picked cleveland twice. Fry is almost unstoppable but with ~40 targets to the tight end in that game it's pretty obvious where one has to look for a place to try to put an emphasis.

my failure as a coordinator has been in getting the game to call defenses the way I want, swapping zones and man was something I wasn't able to nail down this year. had I spent another $10 on scrims maybe I could have figured out the magic that translates blitz/man/zone/long/short into what I wanted by down. our CBs who are so good in man coverage are godawful at zone because ... logic! ... so we die if we get crossed up.

but i'm making the mistake of discussing actual tactics

No man, I know what you mean. Sometimes when you have a defense call setup and it just does exactly the opposite of what you expect.

the two interceptions were both very annoying. Philip bobbled both those passes, and the INT came on second chances.

It was a good plan. And ya'll are built for it clearly. I've seen other teams try the same style defense and us light them up with 700+ yards and 7 TDs. I'm not so sure if we scrimmed 10 times, we wouldn't do exactly that 7 of 10 times, but I'm not spending the money to run the experiment. Loss is a loss. We'll see how it goes in Veteran next season as more and more teams try and emulate the defensive schemes that've had some success against us.

thank you!

I thought they are pretty good... in the last 10 days, they've beat the #3 and #5 teams on GLB2, and we just hammered them

HBurg/Hawaii Mars Championship will be a war in a few days. Pro game of the year?
