Probably glb2 should just charge owners an up front fee that lasts 4 or 8 seasons or so, and so owners don't decide to not renew due to fp costs, because they paid up front.

I actually like this. 2500 points and you get a team from rookie-vet. You reset, you pay another 2500. Nice disincentive to reset and also less reason to bail before the players peak.

Please god no.

If thats really the goal id suggest something like:

500 to start a new team/reset a team
400 to renew it as soph
300 to renew at seasoned
200 to renew at journey
100 to renew at pro/vet

this also has 0% chance of happening. but positive reinforcement > negative reinforcement

And than you have half a league full of teams that dont get maintained. How would that help the game? I would guess you lose at least half the teams from rookie to veteran (I dont have data on that, I saw something from Tx), so you would see a lot of human teams with only CPU players. That means you play only a handful of competetive games per season.

I prefer mrm's suggestion much more and I agree NGTH.

Or .. buy 1 season up front at 100%, 2 up front at 90%, 3 up front at 80% .. etc

So owners have a reason to buy lots of seasons.

I don't... in fact, the opposite. I think people were more knowledgeable about builds the second season, leading to better builds.

What I'm saying is it's going to be much tougher moving up the ladder consistently playing lower ranked teams. At the beginning of next season SP-wise the S1 and S2 teams will finally be leveled out, but starting the season the average ranking of a S1 opponent team will be much higher, making it much harder to move up.

Ah, that's not what you said - you said "beating the tar out of bad teams"

Seriously, though, elo works, and as leagues disband (which they do every season and will continue to do this offseason) there will be some mixing of S1 and S2 teams, and the ladder games also allow for good movement even if your league sucks. Ronin is a pretty good example of how fast you can climb up to the top by just continuing to win, and Tiger league has quite a few poorly ranked teams so it's not just having a strong league.

You can't force people to keep trying with a team they don't like. This would just create lots and lots of cpu-defaulted teams left in the leagues as people walked away from their teams anyway.

If Dookie had won that game, Osprey would have had a 6-way tie the wild card.

Eagle's Gamma eliminates top 10 ranked MEM. No playoffs for a top 10 team is fun.

Happened last year as well in Eagle with (resetting) Sunday Funday losing their last game of the regular season.

*sigh* Flip that. Reverse it.

Lesson learned, stop posting when you have serious balloon head from allergy meds.

No but really there could have been a 6-way tie, though? Maybe I dreamed that too

It appears you are correct that if the result of that game was reversed it would be a 6-way tie from what i can tell.
