I played GLB Classic since season 1. GM'ed at casual and competitive levels. Had players in the WL many seasons.

GLB2 is more fun, even if just for the actual players vs. dots.

Season 6 here...the relaxed player building and competitive parity in GLB 2 makes it much more enjoyable for me.

Started GLB1 in season 12. Probably created over 1000 dots over there and coordinated/owned teams since around S14. Loved the game for a long time but it really lost its addictive nature when people started leaving and the sim started becoming stagnant. After playing for so long I really just became more interested in the forums than the actual game, once the forums started dying off I found myself realizing that I don't really enjoy this game anymore. I would say I am enjoying GLB2 about the same as I enjoyed GLB1 when I first started playing it, however, I do feel like there is more to accomplish here and this game seems to have a lot more potential than GLB1 ever did.

Just on a side note, I like the sprites much more than the dots as well.

That feel when GLB2 players are experiencing unemployment.

This is an issue I had teams fold where there was little chance of getting on another team when there were probably 50-75 FA WRs as good or better than mine. Starting over wasn't as painful as I thought. Easier than after putting a year into a dot on GLB 1.

i really miss custom fields/stadiums

This would really make the game look like a polished finished product. Rumor is Bort has penisphobia and was worried people would make penis fields.

Not sure what you consider legit. Putting hundreds of hours into AIs and thousands of hours scouting and game planning, or buying a team, spamming the forum, and selling the team mid-season?

GLB2 has a pulse where GLB1 has clearly given up the ghost.

I can remember you almost being fed up with this game. Here's a good example of someone who didn't give up and now see's the game for how awesome it truly is.

Give it a few seasons people and ffs, give team ownership a shot!!

I managed the Colonial Zoners (if anyone remembers them) on GLB 1 starting Season 2..... I had a sweeeeeeeeeet custom field (partially covered dome)

I actually think most of GLB2 user base is from GLB1. It is apparent the lore and luster of GLB isn't promoted efficiently, as of yet. GLB1 got a huge following early because there was nothing else, at the time or prior. As time went on, people lost the liking for the game and left. When GLB2 came out those same folks came, saw, and stayed or left again saying not for me. But there hasn't been an influx of new blood on here, liken to GLB1.

I know they have items in the works to help with this, but needs a huge boost if true attention were to be demanded from the product.

I think I started half way through season 1 of GLB1 -- and quit somewhere around season 10-12 or something.

That's my issue. Only reason I initially cared anything about 2.0 was the potential for it to draw players to the real GLB. Then I come over here and look around and see people shitting all over 1.0. Thus my hatred.

Beg is a strong word when I was asked to become one again. As for being inactive, I left GLB1 for the reasons why everyone really enjoys GLB2 better. It got to the point that every build HAD to be a certain way and it took way too long to develop the players. When I got to the point where it because a 'job' to make sure people built their dots correctly or my team would suffer immensely I said I was done.

I saw they released GLB2 and gave it a shot. I like the format, I like the premise and by golly I like the people. Well maybe not everyone.

1.0 has its niche for certain types of gamer, but I feel GLB2 appeals to the larger spectrum which is a better business model. There are huge flaws and issues that I would handle differently, but I am not on the staff nor do I have direct input to the staff.

My question for you is, why are you on a crusade to glorify 1.0?

Go type in "GLB2" in the GLB1 main forum, no matter what the topic is, and you will see what real hate looks like.

Like, I would love to enjoy GLB1 again like I used to. I remember when it would take three RL years to go from level one to decline. The sim is built for the endgame, but they force you to play for over a year before your dot is ready for the endgame.

If they instituted an instant L79 Pee Wee-type format instead of the existing minor league/Reg Pro/Pro/WL, I'd be back there in a heartbeat.

I mean, there's so much that they could do with that game if they took the time out of the build process. You could have the current league structure (16 games and then four playoff games), you could have a continuous ladder league, you could make the offseason last less than a week... you could build a player on any day and have them be able to find work because there is no "wrong" day to build.

The thing that once made the game great is now the rope around that game's neck.

---

That's how we criticize GLB1. If you go to GLB1, they just say "fuck GLB2." "Those graphics." "Boring."
