Don't be so negative, it is a good idea, and could possibly be implemented. Just not anytime soon, as there are other simple things that still need to be implemented, like seeing the ball go through the cross bar or not..

Why, are you afraid of competition ? From noobs no less ? Big balls. Huge.

What kind of competition? For what? I am not running a team or have players on teams that win a championship every season. But I know there are people, who put in a lot of time and effort to build good teams and set up tactics. Why should they be forced to play with basically random players?

Not only random players, but forced to have inactive players on their teams.

Uhh, no one would be forced lol...it would be for players that ENTER the draft. In the NFL draft there is always risk of some guy going nuts and going awol, that doesn't mean you don't have a draft. You can always supplement with a CPU player if you lose a guy as well. Overall I just like the idea because it would be more fair for everyone, not just the good teams. If you are afraid of competition from noobs, thats saying something, and if these well run teams are so good (as they should be) they will still be able to win easily but with a few rookie agents on the roster. If you can't have a winning team with like, 3 rookies on your roster, your not that good. What do you think NFL teams do, just pick all the free agents they want and have no rookies on the roster ? Every team, superbowl winning teams always have rookie and young players that have to learn on the roster, so I would like to see GLB do more of that. (seriously, your team will not fail because you have to help 3 rookies build a better player. Also, if your an established owner you could just DRAFT YOUR OWN PEOPLE if you want, and again, only maybe have a few on the roster that you are unfamiliar with that you would need to show the ropes to.) I think it would help rookie players alot and make the game MUCH more interesting, and fair. But, its complicated so I don't expect it to be implemented anytime soon.

not that it was a terrible idea - just that it has been pitched here before over the years...so many of us have already thought it through...several times since 2008 or whatever.

This thread gave me an interesting idea that is certainly never going to happen.

As 3eb mentioned - in the NFL - you have rookies / vets / great athletes / role players / etc.

I think an interesting concept for GLB would be this:

- pay your fee for a season
- whatever you paid for your season gets you:
- 43 players (you choose their class)
- 9 million skill points - spend them however you want...on whatever players you want...to whatever level you want (still have caps though) (43 players x 209,000 skill points just as it is now)
- 645 action points - spend them how you want...on who you want...same bronze/silver/gold tiers. 43 players x 15 AP (which you can currently get now)

You want to build an amazing O-Line...and a sub par defense...go for it
You want to build a fully maxed QB/WR/WR/TE -- but have a horrible secondary....go for it
You think defense wins championships? prove it
You think the best defense is a good offense? go nuts with a maxed offense.
You think Al Davis was right and speed kills? here is your chance.

I know its going nowhere -but I would love that game!

Love the idea! But as you said, very likely NGTH.

What would be the fee? Would you keep the team for only one season? I would reduce the flex and AP a bit to make it more interesting.

All teams would essentially start the game at Vet level.

So - you probably pay by the season -- and there would really be no reason to end it. So I guess players could run the same exact team for as many as 10+ seasons (infinite really).

They would also have the option of full or partial respec each season (since there is only Vet for this game style - no reason to force resets).

Under the current pricing model - it would currently be pretty expensive (which isn't good since that would reduce the # of people willing to pay it) -- I might shoot for $50 a season? You'd have ladder and league - so that is something like 1$ a day only.

But you'd say 'all points must be spent in the preseason / off season.

Why reduce flex and AP? I offered exactly as much as we get now -- so in theory (no one has gotten there) not even to cap everything out.

Because you basically build a normal team. You dont have to make the decision you mentioned earlier. Additionally you could build less than 43 players and use the SPs you saved for another player and push that player over the 209k, the player would earn over a "normal" career, maybe even maxing all skills on one player.

I could see something like this working as a supplemental draft in the lower levels.

We often get people saying how difficult it is to find a team, or vice versa. Those players and teams can mark themselves as draft eligible to fill out a roster, or simply be drafted and play for a human team. Then when the draft comes teams can pick players from the available pool until their roster is where they want it. Similar to auto-fill team just sends out contracts to random players.

By making it optional, teams and players that don't want to participate don't have to.

The issue that still remains would be being stuck on a team with a bad or inactive owner.

So it is basically a auto-sign option for players, that get a auto-fill offer from a team?
